Intake might not add much for the value, get a Dry filter instead

OEM intake should flow better and be less prone to heat soak. It's similar to the mr.5 intake from the factory. The filter is already dry as well.

Comes down to sound vs power

IND tested it out and it uses paper filter

I guess that's what I meant by dry. Paper dry haha. Different than some I assume.

On the M235i, you don't have gains with the intake. Better sound only but it is subjective. It will probably be the same with the M2.

Hardly, Mr.5 was an extra hole with ducting to a dedicated filter that added much more cold air into N54 air box.

M2 lower airbox is the same as F30 N55 MPPK lower airbox ie big red hole directly behind LH headlight.

I tried F30 MPPK airbox on M135i with Jb4 and found it added nothing compared to std N55 airbox and a drop-in. I swapped back and installed an AFE DAS behind LH grille to help direct air into airbox, adding positive pressure to help flow thru an AFE dry drop filter panel. In mine and others have found DAS helps throttle response and even adds something to keeping IAT's in check. Great $50 mod for the sealed lower airbox

Wait, those Air Scoops that everyone bought? I thought those actually did nothing. I glad some platform has found use for them.

Thanks for the response! What I meant by Mr. 5 is that it has a whole in the airbox like that intake. It doesn't have a dedicated filter but it helps direct more air into the airbox. It wouldn't be there if that wasn't the case.

But that doesn't go without saying that the airbox could be there purely for sound. It wouldn't surprise me. I think my main point here is that your not going to see high/if any gains. As you pointed out.

If you have a Pure stage 2 or something similar that's a different story.

You're one of the few on the forums to say they work! Everyone just bashes them and says they don't work at all blah blah. Nice to know. Might pick one up now.

Yep - I found a use for an air scoop - inlet side of the turbo responds well to more air I agree but it seems like positive pressure more ie throttle is sharper with sealed lower box and DAS than with MPPK lower airbox and no scoop. To help, perhaps take a look at YT video by Evolve.

Stick with hole in the airbox fella, given its OEM for more intake noise an M2 !!!
