Sonos - Amazon Prime Music

Has anyone added Prime music yet?

It's 'free' to prime members.

Bit of a ball ache to add though.

Seems okay so far, however been using Apple mainly.

Would also be very interested to hear about this. I have PM on my Mac and thinking about a Sonos. Without going off Brigand's post , any thoughts on the Sonos speakers?

They are great.

My wife was doubtful at first.

However we bought a double pack of Sonos 1's for Christmas (John Lewis had best deal).

Have one in living room with the other now upstairs.

At present grouped to play same track, however if I am working upstairs in office, then I just un group the speaker upstairs to play my shit

Looking to add a 3 this year and buying for daughter as well.

A total doddle to setup.

With Sonos you can 'add' loads of music streaming services and just select which one you wish to play from at any time.

Imagine a list, This Device, Music Library, Deezer, Apple Music etc etc.

Furthermore if you search for a song for example, the results produced will be from all your possible music sources.

Sonos has it worked out very well

On my Sonos APP on IPad, I have Spotify Apple Music, Amazon Prime, Radio by Tunin as my main options.

You can then have favourites added, such as various albums from the above or stations from radio.

With likes of ITunes I can either use Apple Music or play direct from my NAS to Sonos setup.

Edit screen looks something like this.

Currently playing Cloud Nine by Kygo.

Have 2 1's &. Play3. Have eyes on the new play5 ATM

Great system, easy to use & everyone can set up playlists etc & control from own iPhone/pad/android device.

Look for the deals for pairs of play1 to get you started.

SONOS is very good, but a bit left field I went for the Samsung system which links up our three surround sound systems too as well as the various individual speakers we have around house / garage / shed /garden.

Not better, just different and maybe worth a look.

Any links Rob? being a 320d owner, left field thinking is second nature. But happy to have my eyes opened

Have been looking at these over the weekend. Will a Sonos 1 do the job ok on its own or are you better going for a 3 as a starter and then expanding from there. The 1 just look a bit small to pump out any kind of decent sound.

Depends on size of room and how much music really.

The 3 is better in that has more speakers.

However 2 X 1 better than a 3 and more versatile.

I believe Sonos do a try before you buy thing.

Not sure if you could go for a 1 then decide to change to a 3 (or 5) later.

You could always ask them

I genuinely don't get the attraction with Sonos. They need a separate app from both phone platforms, they sound crap and they're horribly expensive. What is the attraction?

They link in seemless with wifi and NAS, only use iPads to control them.

I don't consider them to be expensive TBH, about £230 for a pair of 1's.

Have good support now with streaming services, play everything from NAS or stream Apple Music or BBC radio etc.

Can be grouped together or as separates.

While other systems can do some of that, just not all.

£230 is not what I'd consider cheap for two crappy sounding awkward boxes. For all the sonos boxes installed in my sister's house, I could spec a much better sounding, more integrated multi-room system using proper hifi/av components and semi-decent speakers, yet they seem intent on filling the house with crap sound, and then wake me up with it playing far too loud for the internal amp to cope at an antisocial hour at the weekend. It's not difficult to create a system with treble, the difficult bit is bass, yet they try to do the bass bit (but fail dramatically) and seemingly completely ignore the treble (which is the easiest, cheapest way to make a shit system sound good!). Ergh, I can't see it, I really can't!

30 years jet noise and tone deaf - sound system would be soo wasted on me lol.

Also, could you easily stream from NAS and say Apple Music and then switch to radio without leaving office / living room?

Where can you buy a pair of 1's for £230 - cheapest I can get them is £150 each ?

John Lewis had a special on for a twin pack at Christmas.

Edit may have been 260.

Slept since then

Very much this!

Esp. with the advent of something like a Chromecast audio. That lets you turn virtually any sound system into a "Sonos" esque system.
Has optical out too.

£150 for a speaker is very dear. You could buy an Amp + 2 Bookshelf speakers for similar money, and just add a £15 (on offer @ Currys currently) Chromecast Audio to give you all the streaming / smart stuff.
