OMG! that's pure heaven. Damn the M4 GTS sound is insane!!! Makes the M3 sound like a baby. Wish the normal M4 could sound like that.

Listen to it on good speakers.

When I listened to it on my iMac, the M4 sounded better with the M3 rather puny in comparison. However, when I routed the sound to my sound system (via airplay), the bassy sound of the M3's V8 came out and the M4 raspy sound paled beside it.

I think an Competition Pack M3/4 MPE will sound pretty close to the GTS.

The m3 is 95% induction noise at least on my speakers where as the M4 you hear much more of the exhaust sound (which sounds OK to me but not anywhere remotely near exotic or desirable).

The same can be said for my own m3 which I just put the stock exhaust back on. With the custom exhaust myself and many others agreed that it is one of the best sounding cars out there and punches way above its weight class In the sound department, but with the stock exhaust it is pretty disappointing and I do not enjoy the car nearly as much.

Having said that I'm sure this thread will go down hill pretty quickly, and I look forward to sitting back and watching =D

They each have their strong points. The M4 is so much louder, and it has all those wicked sounding over-run crackles and pops. I'm not sure a crappy cell phone video is the best tool for judging a sound battle, though. I've never heard an M3 GTS or M4 GTS in person, but I have heard a regular S65 and S55 with various exhausts, and the S65 sounds like pure sex. The S55 sounds very mean, but it ultimately comes down to preference. If you prefer the sound of a V8, the S65 is going to win every time. If you like the raspy rip of an I6TT, you'll prefer the S55.

The e92 is just completely dominated by induction noise from the front. Mine is the same way even with a pretty damn loud exhaust. For proper comparison they should've recorded from both front and back.

An e92 with 1,000 mufflers would still sound better than any m4. The m4 is the better car in every performance oriented way. But sound? I'm sorry it'll never even be close. S85/65 was some of the best engines for sound BMW ever made.

M4 sounds like this to me:

I'm not much a fan of the snap crackle, pop, I love the smooth delivery of the M3.

Go ahead, let me have it, haha

i'm sorry but that M4 sounds like a go-kart compared to that V8 in the e92. i put on my Beats Studios and its crazy how the e92 makes your ears shake. I love the M4 but the sound is not appealing to me.

Personally I like/prefer the burbles and pops of the M4 but it needs the MPE and active sound off. As always YMMV.

Listening to it without looking one can be sure it's AK-47 firing

The S65 v8 is so hard to beat. This one's not even close. I love my S55, and with the MPE it makes some good noises, but it pales in comparison to the E92's V8 in the sound department.

I prefer quality over quantity when it comes to sound.

One of these cars sounds like a Civic with a coffee can dangling off its exhaust to me.
