Don't you hate waiting for parts that are on back order? Well you would think that if you spent 25m dollars on your daily drive and had a support contract with guaranteed service level that wouldn't be an issue?

Well this was the furthest this has moved since October waiting for parts which were effectively on back order and not available anywhere! Moved all of about 4 inches, up!

Sikorsky S-92, my mode of transport to work also!

Nice machine - much better than the old Eurocopter 225's.

Not my mode of transport, more my headache is managing a fleet of them and keeping ensuring they are safe and airworthy in all sorts of inhospitable locations around the world.

Whilst I agree the cabin is nicer than the 225, the 225 has much better support, is faster, goes further, has far more power if you lose an engine and can work to far more places due to its better performance.

Biggest problem these days with all modern aircraft is not trusting the automation.

This kind of business practice never ceases to amaze me. When small businesses fail to plan ahead, I can kind of understand that because taking on one extra person to do that kind of stuff would probably wipe out a chunk of their profit. But when big businesses do it, it just doesn't make any sense.

Case in point, I know of a supercar manufacturer who ordered the exact number of carbon fibre propshafts for the number of cars they were building. Not a single extra one for spares. At the end of the production run the company making the shafts threw all the tooling in a skip. So if one breaks, no more can be made and that £2m car will be off the road. Permanently.

See you need to buy that extra one, that is the Christmas tree

Try having the army look after aircraft parts (Germany) and then shipping them to a sandy place.

You wait weeks, then find out the wings you ordered have rust on them, so you order a new set and raise a complaint.

Then you find all 20 sets have been left outside open to the elements as well 'they is just lumps of metal ain't they....'

As for availability of parts.... We had to visit a museum and 'borrow' some parts to keep some aircraft flying.

As avionics (previous trade) I don't trust automated systems at all, the more engines a plane / helicopter has the better.

Actually I hate flying, it's just how close you actually are to crashing at any given time.

Actually not as daft as one might expect. We occasionally do sell packages of obsolete stock that does not have certification via eBay.

Have a 29 yr old car and often find its the best source for new parts that the dealer can't even source

Plus they have a habit of falling out the sky when the gearbox falls to pieces....
