Or equally zymol carbon for dark colored cars and zymol cream for light. I do mine every 3 months. Clay bar every year.

Zymol is the best. I've tried a lot of waxes and I personally really like Zymol's products. I've used the carbon with great results now I use Concours. It's a little pricey, $175.00 can, but has great depth and shine. Ditto to BCMPOWER's response I wax every 3 mo's and use the clay 1 a year.

Having mine done with a product called "swisstec". It will last for a couple of years. Had it on my M6 before and is fantastic. No more polishing! Not sure if it's available in the US.

Some detailers use a base of sealant protect and caranuba over that to give a better wet look. Good sealants are the zaino line, Klasse Sealant Glaze and chemical guys' jetSEAL. If you choose to wax, then chemical guys' 5050 is a great option. You should waz/seal depending on a lot of things. First, what product are you using. Wax (caranuba) can last for maybe a month. You won't need to seal for at least 3 months. It's also important how often you wash the car, what shampoo you use and what kind of treatment does the paint receive (snow, salt, etc...). Hope that helps. |

What oil should I use?
Opinions are what you're going to get and no two will be the same. Use the search function on several of the detailing specific forums and then make an informed choice. For obvious reasons avoid forums that are hosted by firms that sell car care products.

+1. This guy knows what he is talking about. And for those that bought the $175 zymol concorse wax, try chemicalguys 50/50 for $50 and tell me if you see a difference worth over $100, and thats if you see one at all.

P21S... P21S. without question. it isn't as durable for a daily driver but the shine is amazing. (lasts about 4 weeks) the best part is it doesn't stain black trim. the key with this wax is not to let it haze over. do like a 20x20 section at a time. check out this guy www.carcareonline.com

out of curiosity, what is your take on the hand applicated Zymol stuff? To be honest, I've had it done by a local detailer (on 6speedonline) and I really wasn't all that impressed. I paid $450 for a wash / wax - just exterior. Don't get me wrong, it looked fine, but didn't look any different than from my previous detailer who used some other product and only charged me $250. Would you agree that it is just marketing? Because that's what I felt - a complete waste of money.

Another vote for Zaino here. I have to park outside (offstreet at least, thankfully). I can't do waxing 1 day a month, so the 6 months a few layers of Zaino will last does the trick for me.
You can always re-apply Zaino CS midway through your 6-month cycle after a wash as well. Keeps the other stuff on.

Haha. Are you talking about that Glistening Perfection guy? Don't get me started. You are smart and yes, waste of money. Detailing is 95% the detailer and 5% the products. Dont get me wrong, for Zymol products are great and I own Zymol my self. But there is soo much more to detailing then the products. Just because you use the most expensive products and have nice cars under your belt does not mean squat. A good detailer knows the best product for every situation, the best route to correct all flaws, and how long everything is going to last. And someone that says Zymol Vintage Glaze with out last and protect more than the best sealant is on crack! LOL I could spend hours explaing the points, but I think you get the point.

Would recomend the following product line as I have used it and IMHO it works a treat: http://www.swissvax.com/ You can purchase various products from these guys and all their stuff that I have tried has been great and delivery (granted I am in Switzerland where they are based) has been prompt.

I recommend these waxes:
All specially blended waxes that you will not regret purchasing them. If you are serious about taking care of your vehicle take these into consideration! I usually apply wax once a month. But with these you seriously do not need to for about 6 to 8 weeks. I use these for all my clients and for my cars and everyone who has seen them in person and used them love it. If you are looking to save some money though go with the p21S. |
