Cyclists....
Bit of light entertainment here.....the other day I was cruising along a busy city street behind three cyclists who were riding three abreast down the road in front of me. So I give them plenty of room, indicate into the next lane, and pull up next to them at the lights. The lights had gone from green to orange, so I decided to pull to a stop instead of going through late on an orange. Anyway, because of this, my front wheels ended up inside the cyclists box in front of the stop lines. We're talking all of 12 inches in a box that's about 10 feet long.
My window was rolled down, and the cyclists next to me were just chatting away happily. Then out of nowhere, the woman in the group looks at me and shrieks out "you do know you're not supposed to stop in the cyclists box don't you!" so I replied "you do know you're supposed to ride single file instead of three abreast, don't you" at which point her husband or whoever he was chimed in and they both started going at me. I was pretty taken aback, given they had been riding illegally and taking up the entire lane, not signalling their intentions etc. So it resulted in a stupid argument about who was in the wrong. Anyway, the lights changed, and as I pulled away, the dude yelled out "that's a girls car anyway" which I thought was hilarious coming from a middle aged lycra-clad man on a bicycle! I won't repeat my reply here, but suffice to say it was pretty pointed. Then I drove off. The end. |

They can get pretty aggressive too - thumping cars and abusing drivers etc. I guess it goes both ways, but certainly in my case I was a little surprised to be abused for practically nothing, especially when they had been happily flouting the law for the last quarter mile I had been following them. I was also a little surprised to hear my black beastie is a 'girls' car'.

One of the only instances where having a 335D to roll coal all over them would have paid off

We have a local "major" two lane one way street in our downtown... They hung signs back in October that say "cyclists may use FULL lane".... It has made traffic even more horrendous at heavy times of the day when it is nice out. Even single file or single bike, they ride right down the middle....

Shouldn't have touched the man's car in such a disrespectful manner. No harm, no foul until he did that!

THIS is what I'd get for my ride if I lived in Britain!

When I had an office next to a bike trail I'd keep my bike rack on the car to avoid any trouble with the entitled bicycle warrior crowd. Never had an issue when I was driving with a rack on...

I'd consider myself a cyclist, but I hate other riders that act that way too. Like seriously, your vehicle is a foot wide - put your wheels on the white line or to the right of it and don't impede traffic.
