Boost leak monitoring?
Is there a way to monitor actual boost vs requested boost while driving? I suspect I may have a boost leak around the fitting where the post-IC pipe meets up with the throttle body, but obviously pulling that fitting off and testing for boost leaks old-school style won't help me. Can Torque Pro or Carly monitor those parameters?

it's not reliable. i had boost leaks one at that red pipe and one at the other aluminium pipe, and both times, not showing nothing on diagnostics...i was told the sensor was just before the hole...obviously bmw didn't have that right....oh and even when your turbo is gone, diagnostics will supposedly not show it...i wonder if it is with new cars the same story...coz i was amazed to find out these things won't show on my car..another disappointment among many

I had thought of that, but it seems like it would be hard to get any smoke tester to actually put pressure in to the intake system. Most leaks won't show at 0.01psi or whatever a smoke tester puts out. If, for example, a seal is going bad and 5psi is enough to push it out of shape and cause a leak, it wouldn't be seen on a smoke test. |

Correct - for a leak on the charge air side - the measured air flow by the HFM may exceed the calculated rate, but not enough to set a fault until the threshold deviation is exceeded. Missing or leaking O-ring, small hole in cooler - maybe no fault -but this can cause an increase in EGR rate and smoke.
