O J Simpson
Not sure how many of you guys have been watching the dramatized serial on BBC 2 but I was just wondering of those that have pretend you were on the Jury and from what you have heard so far in the dramatization would you have found him guilty or not guilty?
I have found the serial very interesting. I will try and put a poll up, |

I take it you guys don't get bullied into watching the latest serialized crap on TV then, for once she picked a winner and the O J dramatization was very good.

As someone who watched the original televised trial, it had a wealth of evidence both witness and and forensic evidence against Simpson, some of it bungled but nonetheless compelling. It showed Simpson as a compulsive, violent and controlling individual towards Nicole Brown. The trial showed that if you are famous, wealthy and can get the best lawyers you can muddy the evidential trail to insignificance. It was also set against a backdrop of racial tension in LA, so it was always going to be an uphill struggle especially with the lengths the defence went to with jury selection. If Simpson didn't do it, who did? who had the motive and the opportunity to commit the murder of two people talking at the entrance of Nicole's home? No other suspect was identified. I believe Simpson is in the right place.
On December 5, 2008, Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison for robbery with eligibility for parole in October 2017. He is currently incarcerated at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nevada. No doubt we'll hear more from him upon his release. |

Guilty as sin.
It's an good watch this OJ series! I think the prosecution team hung themselves with the gloves and Furman the racist cop. But there was so much damning evidence against him, just shocking he managed to get away with it. The lead prosecutor gave up practising law after that case, and to this day says she had never ever seen a case with so much powerful evidence. But racial tensions, biased jury, super slick legal team, comedic judge etc all played into OJ's hands |

I was in the USA when the crime took place and when he took off in the Ford Bronco, talk about wall to wall TV coverage, no escape.
This programme is such a powerful reminded of that time and how the defence used the racial tensions to OJ's advantage. Excellent dramatisation. |

I haven't watched this yet, but Vincent Bugliosi's 'Outrage' is a very good book on the subject.
Bugliosi was a well know US prosecutor who famously prosecuted the Charles Manson case. Also wrote an excellent book on why George W Bush could be successfully prosecuted for the murder of US soldiers during the invasion of Iraq. There's a mammoth 7 hour video of him presenting his case against OJ:
