Orange Indicator Lenses

Do all Canadian / US cars have actual orange indicator lenses in the front light assembly? I know in the UK we have orange bulbs which make it look like an orange lens (which most of us seem to swap out) but looking closely at some recent US pictures, it looks like an actual coloured lens.

Yes..in the US it is a regulation that vehicles have orange reflectors on the front of them. It's stupid to me that they need to be orange.

Luckily on most models BMW has placed them in the fender which allows you to replace them with body colored versions. That's what I did on my 328i.

For some reason on the X1, X3 and X4 they put them in the headlight assembly.

Every other vehicle imported into the US that I can think of has them in the headlight assembly so it's nice that BMW puts most of them in the fenders allowing to be easily changed out. I'm sure that isn't their reasoning for doing so however.

I also see very few where people have switched them out. My guess is most don't care or even know you can.

Sorry...really long answer

In Canada, we have that too. I do hate that orange reflector. It's ugly. If it is on the fender, it will be better. But on the corner of the headlight, it is super ugly, although it's regulations.

Yeah, it sucks. Last time I had orange reflectors embedded in headlights was in 2005 on my e90. BMW has done away with it until now.

Upsets me as well that the orange reflector is not in the fender. I would think production-wise its much easier to change the bumper mold to accommodate a reflector than add an extra reflector part into a headlight housing, but I guess not.

Gunna have to get creative with some vinyl decaling to cover up the orange.

Yep. That's what I ended up doing. One can always go crazy and buy euro headlights...

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I did that on my 2005 e90.
Our X1 is about to get loaded on a boat.
