M-Sport rear bumper, Can you drill the DEF hole for 335D?

I have a good line on a M-sport rear bumper, and I'd love to pick it up. But it's for a gas car, which means it doesn't have the ~3" cutout for refilling the DEF tank that comes on Ds. Has anyone had success in cutting the hole or otherwise modifying a gas bumper to work on their diesel? The geometry is simple enough, and there's no "latch" per se, just a kind of tab that holds it in place. Just wondering if anyone has attempted this before and has any tips.

Swap it with someone who's done the delete and does not need the "hole" any more.
