LCI Entertainment Improvements
Another car audio upgrade thread, I tried to find my answers, but threads seem to be for CCC - CIC upgrades or CIC Pro retrofits. I'm hoping makkan00 will come along to offer some input!
I have a 2010 LCI 330d Touring, iDrive, smaller (Not pro) screen, business nav (MOTION), USB in glovebox, aux only in centre box (no usb), Bluetooth phone connection (call, but no media streaming), no DAB radio, no cd changer in the boot, no amplifier in stock location, and "base" speaker arrangement. My aim:- I am looking at potentially adding some features. I do now have the ability to code the car, although I have only turned on the digital speed readout at the moment! I am looking for:- USB: Centre console USB to enable MP3 playback from a stick. I think with my setup this may just need the centre console socket, and a lead, which runs to the MULF/combox? Then a recode to "add" the feature? Not sure if I have the correct MILF in the boot, or if I need to find a different one with a USB hole. Combox: I'm not sure if I have this already? I don't have any apps on the iDrive, so definitely not the 2011 one with bluetooth media streaming. I don't have seven digit postcode search, so I'm fairly sure I need a stereo firmware upgrade at the very least if I want to add this. ProNav: More of a nice to have, I was considering the upgraded screen, and upgraded head unit to give me more features. Not sure what is required as I already have Business nav? Maybe just a screen, head unit and a cable or two, then a recode? I also don't know if this upgrade makes any of my other plans easier/harder/different (ie, adding usb). Or indeed, whether it is worth my while, and worth the expense? Phone Cradle:- I have the pretty useless phone cradle thing (power and aerial maybe) in the centre box -can I change that for anything "useful" or if I should take it out and swap it for the storage box option? Any pointers/help/prices you can give me will be very gratefully received! |

I think it will be worth having a look under the boot floor to see what version MULF you have got. I doubt it will be a combox as i believe they were introduced around 2011.
If you require the correct MULF, then I have got one for sale. I have just removed it from my LCI 330d which has USB in the armrest. |

I've had a dig under the floor, and the only thing I found as a long unit with these numbers on:-
84.10 9224422-01 169211 15 MEX 10.02.2010 BMW TCU1.5 MOST ECE I think this is bluetooth module, is this the same as the MULF? I bet you are going to tell me next that this is the wrong one - correct? |

Aragorn30d - Helpful, thank you - I shall delve back in the boot when it isn't hissing down!
Sensible_ - Considered, yes, but I've a feeling it will be quite an expensive upgrade route for the E9x? |

On another note.... NO streaming means no combox.. NBT and CIC are the best options, however, CIC gives you complete functionality, and NBT gives you the jazzy system, but with some work.. Upgrade the sound system, it would instantly make it a new car!

deepsrd - someone gets my humour! Hurrah, I'm not the only pervert in the room
I have trouble with the business nav vs pro nav vs cic discussion area. I am in the year range for the CIC, not CCC - I get that, but is the business nav a CIC unit, just with less features, a poorer nav and a smaller screen - or does CIC ONLY refer to the pro nav "all singing" version? I guess what I'm getting at is can I combox my existing MILF and get her talking to my business unit if my firmware is good enough? If I do, what features can I NOT get with this setup? Can't watch DVD's, can't do split screen, get that - anything else? I think NBT might be a bit of a pricey route. I am considering the pro nav upgrade DIY if I can find out what I need - I believe it is:-
And that could be it, as I am already halfway there with the business nav? Last edited by Flip1977; 04-12-2016 at 04:35 AM.. |
