BMW steering column failure
So I got the red padlock steering wheel icon and my car would not start no matter what I tried. I have a 2007 e92 335i auto w sport pkg. so I get the car towed to the dealership and now they said I have to replace my whole upper steering column assembly for a whopping $1600 for parts and labor. Does anyone know if that is the current range or if the dealer ha any wiggle room to give me a discount?

Most describe how to fix this without replacing the assembly I would see if there are things the dealer can check for you before spending big,,, unless its too late of course |

Yea ice tried almost everything and it didn't work. The only thing I wasn't able to do was clear the code.

It turns out that they updated the software. The bill went from $1700 to $300. The only reason j saved that was I mentioned to them about the TsB and if they could check that first which they did.
