Stop/Start feature on the E9x:

When the engine is stopped, press the "START/STOP ENGINE" button to start it.

When the engine is started, press the "START/STOP ENGINE" button to stop it.

Hope this helps.

Op just drop this. It's a stupid feature that will destroy your starter and fuel savings is almost not noticeable.

No mate. Are you referring to the engine start button?

Auto start/stop only came 2011 (?)

Is it not available for USA BMWS? I saw auto start/stop available in the feature list during coding. Personally I wouldn't enable it, the new N55s have a special coating to greatly reduce wear. I don't know about ours.

Just a stupid feature in my eyes.

The car will be stationary for what, 30 secs at a red light?

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

cylinder shutdown technology would be nice for long trips but yeah can't see auto/stop saving a lot of fuel. Most people i know that have them just disable it.

Is pretty easy on M-Sport ones. It actually just on in eco pro. Comfort, Sport, Sport + is auto off already.

I apologize for my myopic American comment

but I don't believe I've ever heard mention of auto-stop/start on the E9x models here before.

cheers mate,

he's probably just talking about the engine start/stop button which when you press once "automatically" starts the engine if you have your foot on the brake.
