Why I Sold My Ferrari 458 Speciale

Can't decide if I hate him more because he's got a GT3 or because he sold his Speciale for a shed-load more than he paid for it

I like him - he's the first to act the idiot and not take himself too seriously. Thing is he's doing it as bit of fun rather than the other Youtubers in that group who are trying to make money out of it.

I think everything he says makes perfect sense. Ferrari offered to buy it back at a daft price, he's clearly got name down for next toy already and he actually prefers the GT3 as his daily driver and is not worried about putting this miles on that (although there's also the Rangie and F12 as well in case he gets bored!!).

Annoying that once you get to that level, buy right and keep in manufacturers' good books to ensure delivery of next latest and greatest and financially you can't really go wrong.

So instead of losing money buying bmw, you can make money on certain exotics if you can pay the entrance fee!.

I would never sell a Speciale

Ferrari aren't going to make a NA V8

Unless you really needed the cash, I don't get it

Funny isn't it how people's views on cars can be very different.

My mate also has a Speciale and for a period had a GT3 also. In the end he sold the GT3 because he felt on every level other than the sound (which was definitely better) it fell markedly short of the Speciale. This was most evident on a bumpy or uneven road where the GT3 bounced and the Speciale just flows. That being said the GT3 would make a better daily driver due to the greater sound deadening - in the Ferrari you're pretty much having to shout at anything over 50mph.

He's said he's hanging onto the Ferrari indefinitely a) because he enjoys driving it so much; and b) because he's acutely aware it's the last n/a V8 and future values will reflect that.

This chap has been offered a good deal from Ferrari which means he can make a deal and still be eligible for the next toy from Ferrari without losing a penny and indeed making a reasonable sum. He runs his own business and the reality is the tying too much capital can be detrimental.

I'm not going to disagree that this is the last n/a Speciale and so should continue to rise but perhaps a) he can make far more money by reinvesting in his business and b) whatever he clearly has ordered will make considerable money whilst he briefly enjoys it. Oh and c) he has a GT3 that he loves!!

I had to sell a car last year that was appreciating considerably. Didn't want to but needed to buy a company. That car has just sold for double what I sold it and I knew it would. Company has increased six fold. Sometimes you have to make decisions that people just don't get.
