E90 headlamp (adaptive error light and condensation)

Hi - to begin troubleshooting, should I remove the entire light assembly/housing?

If so, what's the procedure to search on the boards to help with DIY for it

Thank you in advance for the advice.

Usually, when there is condensation, the module on the bottom of the headlight housing is toast. At least, that was the the problem in my case.

Do you know the procedure to check on this or how to remove the assembly to check on this? Thank you.

Scan faults.

There are specific faults for when the SMCII get shorted out. Search the forum for those codes. I think one is 9CBB

First fix you leak. Otherwise the module will short again. If there are no obvious cracks, it's most often a bulb door seal that has gone bad or was not installed properly.

You can buy a used module off eBay for around $100-$150. If you're lucky, it will be plug and play.

If not, you just need to default the module using NCS Expert with a profile that has manipulation turned off (granted you buy the correct module).

Buying a module that came from the same chassis (E9x), region (LHD vs RHD), and side (driver or passenger) will increase the chances of the module being plug and play.
