Vehicle wi-fi issue...what am I missing here?

Has anyone run into issues setting it up? I've encountered a few issues.

First, the steps listed in the manual say to access the "Internet Hotspot" menu in iDrive. My G11 does not have an "Internet Hotspot" selection. Rather, it has a "Vehicle Wifi" menu with an on/off checkbox next to it.

What am I missing here?

You need to bring your laptop into the car. Try connecting to the hotspot.

Once you do, open your browser. It will send you to an att sign up page.

You will then be able to initiate the three month trial and set up a tie- in, if you wish, with your other att cellular account.

For some reason, you can't use your iPhone or iPad to do the initial setup.

After initial set up using a laptop as described above, you can then use any device including iPhone etc to connect to the hotspot.

I appreciate the response. My problem is two-fold.

Not only do I lack the menus, but I don't have the password to connect to the Wifi. So while I can try to get my computer to connect, it immediately requests a password and I don't have one to give it.

In the iDrive, you can set the password. Once in the hotspot menu, press option button.

That's what I'm saying. I don't have the hotspot menu. It's not showing up. I took it to a BMW "Genius" yesterday at the dealer and they couldn't figure out why the menu isn't there. So, predictably, a service appointment is in my future.

That is weird. Hmmm. Your call may need a software flash. Have you called BMW genius line at corporate?? 1-844-4GENIUS

Did you or your dealer setup the ConnectedDrive/BMW Assist account?

If yes, go to the ConnectedDrive menu and either by scrolling down or with the option button, select the update option.

If no, go to the ConnectedDrive menu, select ConnectedDrive Store, and view the prompts for Internet.

Also, you can contact BMW Assist to activate as well, purchase additional data/features, or add to an existing account.

If the trial period or an active subscription isn't setup, Internet Hotspot option will disappear.

Hopefully that will solve it. It turns out I can't add this car to our connected drive account because someone entered by registration email wrong at the dealer. I have a ticket in with BMW Assist to fix it. Once they do that, I'll add the car.
