E90 328 to E90 M3 headlights
Has anyone made the swap? I am in love with the e92 headlights compared to the e90. The E90 M3 has the e92 headlights so it has to be possible to do but what all is required. I know I would need a new bumper but are any of the mounting points or extra brackets?

It costed more than I expected for sure. It was 4500 with installation, custom body work, painting, and coding, and a free car rental.
I thought I was going to go it myself but that didn't work out. There was an old thread somewhere stating that the e92 front end fit the e90/91 front with minor fender modification but that was a lie and I learned the hard way. I bought e92 headlights complete with bulbs and ballasts, e92 hood, e92 fenders, and a e92 replica m3 front bumper thinking it would all bolt on...WRONG!!! Headlights and Headlights brackets bolted on. Front bumper bolted on. Hood bolted on but it was extremely narrow on the sides. Fender was no where close to bolt on. I was stuck. The 4500 I paid included buying oem e90 m3 fenders and e92 fenders and having both chopped and plasti-welded together to form a hybrid fender that worked, a dukes dynamic m3 power dome hood, install, paint, and coding which included splicing the headlight wire harnesses to add xenon as I was equipped with halogen prior. Yeah...lesson learned and sorry for the sideways pic |

I chosed this route because: 1. I didn't have to go full wide body (I didn't have to commit to rear quarter panels) 2.) I didn't have to get the m3 radiator support 3.) I didn't have to get all of the extra brackets for bottom of the fender 4.) I didn't have to get the underbody or fender liners 5.) I didn't have to deal with m3 hood vents in terms of dirt/debris/and rain |

They chopped the "door" section of the oem e90 m3 fender and the headlight/fender side of the e92 fender. Both OEM fenders where plastic so plastiweldng worked. (Same way they fuse bumpers) The shape of the side of the fender closest to the door edge is different on e90/91 and e92. Same way with the front side. Essentially you can have an e92 front end on your e90 without the m3 bits as well. As I'm sure a regular hood and regular fenders and a regular e92 bumper would be exponentially cheaper than a oem e90 fender and the side vent/light, a dukes dynamic hood, and a rep m3 bumper with venting ducts... |
