Map updates / first service
This will probably seem like a dumb question - but how do I get map updates and do I have to pay for them? Also, when is my first service due: when the car is 12 months old or when I've done 16k mile or when it tells me?!
I'm in a March 2015 335d with Msport + and Pro Nav the car is now 13 months old with 12k on clock. I understand new cars have 4G card and can update automatically. Therefore how do I go about updating? Can I get this done during my first service and if so, do I need to specifically ask the dealers and will I be charged? In regards to the sat telling me it needs a service - does a light come on or is it a message in the black panel display? Thanks! |

Re service time. The car should show you miles to next service when it starts up. the picture of the car gains a littler orange halo when the service gets near. it might go red when very near or overdue, but I'm not sure. But the distance can be found anytime in the "vehicle status"
Map updates are over the air, so should take care of themselves.

You probably only get 'over the air' automatic updates of the GB and N Ireland maps. If you want to update the maps for the rest of Europe, you have to use the "USB map update" facility on myConnectedDrive. But that facility is not working at the moment - see my other recent posting
