A bit of a story behind this. A company in Scotland fully specified a number of F30 320 D's with the hope to sell them in Malaysia. The company went bust and Harry Fairbarn BMW managed to buy them back at little cost.

The vehicles were all dry stored and are in pristine condition for 2012 plates!

I saw the advert in the used car search. 2012 plate with 161 miles. The miles from Scotland to the dealership in Sutton Coldfield as the technicians wanted to ensure it ran and worked as it should.

So what is on the options list? Pretty much all the options one could desire:

Packages:
1. Active Security: driving assistant, ext mirrors folding and auto dimming, lane change warning, black panel display and, dynamic safety.
2. Advanced Parking: park assistant, park distance control (front and rear) and, reversing camera.
3. Media Pack Professional Plus: head up display, remote services, concierge service, real time traffic information and, professional navigation system.
4. Visibility Package: adaptive LED headlights, LED fog lights and, high beam assistant.

Extras:
1. Harman/Kardon Surround Sound
2. Emergency call
3. Television
4. Internet
5. Enhanced Bluetooth
6. Sun protection glass
7. Rear window sun blind and rear side blinds
8. Sunroof
9. Electric seats with memory and lumbar support
10. Extended interior lights
11. Folding rear head restraints
12. Split folding rear seats
13. Red leather seats
14. Debadged
15. Adaptive M Sport Suspension
16. Variable steering
17. Active Cruise control with brake function
18. Comfort Access
19. Surround view camera
20. Sport automatic transmission
21. 19" wheels
22. First Aid Kit
23. Run flat tyres
24. Windscreen with shade band

For 23,500 it felt like the deal of the century. I don't think I have ever heard of a car with such specification before. I can only imagine that the other the UK owners are as happy as me.

Of all the best features I would say the surround view camera and active security are the best features of the car. While park assist is witch craft I have had little opportunity to use it.

Photos to follow. Lighting is not good outside right now.

I have no plans to sell it and although it is a 4 pot oil burner it has a healthy bhp. I plan to hang on to it for a long time.

I'm covering 200 miles of motorway driving a day.

Yeh that... the maps didn't work. So it went into the dealership for two hours to have the UK maps installed/updated.

My first diesel. Driven petrol for 10+ years.

Sounds like a great buy, and amazing spec. congrats! ...assuming it's right-hand drive

Did you get all fluids replaced?

I take it they wouldn't give you a service pack with that age of a car...even though it's essentially new?

Well done, sounds like a cracking deal

One thing though, not sure if I've misread something - a 2012 F30 with LED headlights?

Details must have been taken/copied from the latest model.

That is a mega spec car indeed, congratulations. I'm glad you'll be keeping it for a while, spec aside £23.5k for a '12' plate car isn't a great price IMHO even with the mileage it has.

Congrats on your "new" car and I'm glad that you are happy with it

As long as you intend to keep the car then if the price you paid you are happy with them no prob

However it is a four year old car and the trade and private buyer will see it as exactly that regardless of the low mileage

Auto trader is awash with F30 320d's on 12 plates for £9k +

It seems a tad expensive to me for a car with a questionable history

Williams BMW used to have a contract to dispose of BMW's display and engineering cars

They would try and sell them as new, often very high spec but on plates maybe three years old and often previous models and some in very odd colour/spec combos

Often wondered who bought them and how they got on when they tried to Px them three years later

A Good spec.
One question are these cars classed as UK Spec or imports?

There's a 12/12 320d on auto trader with 550 miles

As claims it is one of olympics cars which I think were very high spec cars

See below what AT recon it's worth !

You've got a car there with a super spec with very little mikes for a decent price for the age of the car beating in mind the spec it's got

You're going to keep it for a few years so go and enjoy it.

Sounds like a stunning car but they all look like LCI spec and the engine is too 187PS is the new B47. A 2012 F30 2.0d would only be 176PS.

Visibility pack is the old lighting with Xenon not LED,
Media Pack Pro + is LCI only too

I sold my 2012 F30 320ED, just before I bought this one in November for 13k with 30k on the clock and mine was a high spec olympic car.

Could be a copy/paste typo MSport will have an advantage over an ED spec however £23.5k is huge money for a '12' plate with a history just IMHO. Most important thing is the OP is happy with what he has bought, enjoy

Put the VIN number into BMW VIN checker to get the build date and the specification.

Nobody had said he made a mistake until you posted, just rightly questioned the purchase. There are details that don't stack up in the initial post for which there could be a genuine reason. A post like this was always going to attract interest.

I don't think any one is deliberately try to belittle a fellow member.
Just differing opinions on the deal.

Id check to see what warranty you have if any. My understanding is that BMW AG provide one year which BMW GB top up to three years (could be wrong on this but it's how it used to be)

Still, you can always buy an extended warranty.

At the end of the day, if you are happy with the deal you got and what you paid, that's all that matters. Enjoy your mega-specced car!

Well just think how you would feel if someone went out of there way to show you a price for £13000 and you have just paid £23000. I think it's great if the man's looking for a deal but the deals done and ripping the post to pieces is just not fair! This forum is a great place to look and get information, but we are all here because we enjoy our bmw, so I just think if I was reading some of the posts I would be gutted. That's all no offence intended.

Jeez, this thread got a bit ugly.

I don't think you can simply compare the value of this car to a normal used vehicle, it's going to be somewhere in between.

It's a bit of an anomaly. The spec is obscene, the OP is happy, he got a good deal on what is for all intents and purposes a new car.

Good luck to him.
