f31 Spoiler

Just building an f31 and the configurator shows a spoiler on the car?

Does that come as standard and if so what is the difference to the m-performance spoiler?

Cheers :-)

Cheers!

Just found a video looks like the m-performance one sits on top of the standard one, maybe. Or it just a two layer spoiler replacement.

Cotswold website is great for information!!!

M Perf one sits on top of the std factory one. Few guys have them fitted RJB with his Ruby Red car and Craig with MG from memory. Another option is the ACS one which I think replaces the factory one but is bigger if that makes sense Lorcan will confirm I'm sure

I was looking for that thread with those cars on but couldn't find it. Thought it was the 1st of March thread but wasn't.

ACS version, after looking at more closely it looks like it attaches to the existing spoiler.

I think it is just short of £200. Then painting, which was £100.

Has any change in airflow improved the cleanliness of the rear window at all?
Whilst looks and such (does it actually DO anything of worth???) might be considered important by many/most I would be as keen to have a clearer rear view.

I can't answer the question on the cleanliness of the rear window yet, as my car hasn't been out in the wet weather yet.

Apparently it reduces lift at high speed. Not the same as downforce, but probably not a bad thing.
BMW do recommend that if you fit a splitter that you also fit a rear diffuser or spoiler and vice versa, so must do something, albeit impossible to feel.

I'd suggest that is a load of cobblers!

I think it's in the fitting instructions!

I'd agree with this completely. Regarding the rear diffuser Have you seen the amount of space/void under the rear of an f31 where the exhaust is The rear diffuser on an fxx does absolutely nothing and is for show only.

But it looks better than the standard defuser if nothing else. Probably only any real use after the limited 155 mph.....

No they are no use what so ever. Unless you have a completely flat surfaced underneath, a rear diffuser in what ever form is just for show. However, visually they do look better

I have 'permission' to go for a rear spoiler with next car.

I admit to being split between the ACS and Mperf one.

My wife's maths is 'might as well use the discount on other bits'

(I hav a feeling she is including her car in that as well lol).

Lorcan needs to get some better pics of the ACS F31 spoiler
