Refreshing - Only 4 options to choose from - Ford Mustang

I saw a new Ford Mustang last night for the first time, and I must admit now they have put the steering wheel on the correct side it looked quite nice. So I Looked it up and found this.

http://www.ford.co.uk/ConfigureyourC.../5.0%20V8%20GT

I must admit it's VERY refreshing that the options list (apart from colour) is only 4 options, EVERYTHING else is standard. Upgrade the hi fi / climate seats / parking sensors (although camera is standard) ans a custom pack

I've been looking to replace my current F36 and looked through most BMW, Merc, Jag etc and the option lists go on for pages and pages. And it really winds me up when something says it's a no cost option, but when you click on it, another window pops up and says, if you add this it will delete that and then add this, this and this.

Can't help thinking it might be the way forward. Just 4 upgrades. I wish BMW did the same

I'd hate it if BMW reduced the options list to the level of a Ford.

My wife's Kia KX-4 Sportage had one option above colour - manual or automatic.
On this range, if you want fewer options, it's simply a choice of a cheaper model.

I'd agree, it's nice and refreshing, but it may only suit a specific brand.

On the other hand the options list for Porsche gives me a headache...

I like having options, however German cars do take the piss at times.

Let's face it until the LCI update, you had to spec Xenons as candles were standard for on our premium cars.

We only got bus nav as standard, as it likely costs more not to actually fit anything.

Folding mirrors an option, FFS!

Saloon, folding rear seats....

On a positive note, at least you don't have to make sure you ticked include radio cassette as option these days, however I bet if they could, they would

Certain kit should be standard on pretty much all cars (non micro ka size etc).

Garage List
It looks great and I would even be prepared to accept that bits will fall off or fail, it's just so iconic and at a great price.

On that note, does anyone actually use CD's in their car anymore? or ever...

On my first BMW, a 1987 E30 318i, I think I specified 3 options. Radio-Cassette, manual sunroof and electric front windows. I missed out on power steering and alloys as they were outside my budget. Even on my 1990 325i, which was top of the range, I had steel wheels.

Occasionally, but iPhone 95% of the time. If I buy a CD, I will sometimes take it in the car.

Yes still use CD's mainly as other to shove on HD.

Regarding the 'or ever' comment.

What did you use prior to MP3 / blue tooth?

If they reduced the options list to the level of the Mustang and included everything as standard (as stated by the op) then the price of every 3 series would go up about £10k and no one would buy one.

True, but I was getting at the fact that BMW offers loads of options that Ford don't, start offering those on the Ford and watch the price rise as manufacturing costs rise.

A friend's son bought a Mustang 3 months ago and got shot pretty quickly, there is a reason they're cheap.

So what options do BMW offer on the 3 that Ford do not have?
