228i H&R springs part numbers vs M235i

So, I ordered springs for the 228i (as you can see from all my recent threads... haha). The kit number is 50482. But when I opened the box, I found that the springs were labelled 28891, which is pretty much the kit number for the M235i (28891-2).

I thought this was a mistake and someone had put M235i springs in a 228i box, so I called ECS right away and got an RMA and replacement started.

Mostly out of curiosity how this could happen, I called H&R and they told me the springs are the same for M235i and 228i despite the different kit part number. Can anyone else confirm that the springs in their 50482 kit were actually labelled 28891?

Thanks!

I can't comment on the x-drive compatibility (I would assume not, but I have no real idea), but I confirmed at the time that the M235i and 228i (rwd at least) run the same springs from H&R. It would explain why my drop wasn't as much in front as I expected as well. I've been running them for the past year without issue.

I will say, though, after a year with the springs I'd say they feel like the stock dampers aren't quite adequate. With normal driving, they feel slightly stiffer than stock, but the roads here in NY have some pretty nasty spots. Some of the larger bumps and dips in the road seem a little excessively bouncy or a little too easy to hit the bump stops. This spring I'm going to look into replacing with coilovers so I can have better damping.
