Intelligence Test!

I've seen this numerous times while eating my lunch in Tesco car park now, and I am perplexed as to why people do it!

Why not park the other way round so you can get the trolley next to the boot and load everything in seconds, rather than carting everything all the way round the car in multiple trips!? :

Probably feel more confident reversing into the space; or maybe has "driven through" before you got there; so they can drive out forwards rather than have to reverse out with other cars to contend with....

Having said that . . . . women/logic :

Whilst I get the point, I was always taught that reversing into a space was the correct procedure.

Reverse in, drive out... safer and good practice guidance by IAM and RoSPA.

Because that's the correct thing to do, I think we sometimes conflate our own convenience with what is correct and that's not often the case.

I would say all the other cars are parked incorrectly as they have driven in not reversed

Reversing into a space is the correct way. Much clearer line of sight when manoeuvring out into traffic.

I reverse in because I hate driving in forwards, I find it much easier to gauge the space around the car when reversing compared to going in forwards.

Reverse park all the time, let's face it, only new drivers and numpties drive straight forward into a slot.

Hmm, cheers matey, I'm not a new driver as I passed my test 40 years ago, so I must be a numpty.

I just can't be arsed to stop and reverse in. I just go straight for it and worry about getting out till later.

It's a bit like living for the moment rather than worrying about the future.

So who's the numpty?

Yes but you are all missing the point!

Nothing wrong with reversing into a parking space. I reverse onto my drive at home every day.

But don't reverse into a space when you'll be coming back to you car with a trolley full of shopping. . Any other time, it's appropriate.

You'd all be crying if some t@wt reversed into the space next to your car and scratched the fecker trying to get down the side of your car to their boot!!

I usually reverse in to spaces, but make a pragmatic decision in supermarkets depending on where the space is, how much space there is to maneuver the car, and how much shopping I've got. Surely that's the intelligent thing to do?

I've always reversed in, and imagine my surprise when my well founded feeling of superiority was proved to be correct when some fcuking doris who had parked forwards in the bay diagonally opposite reversed out straight into me as I was preparing to park. in a busy supermarket you need all the visibility you can get, so each to their own but I will continue to reverse in.
Plus, if there was a nuclear holocaust coming, you can make that quick getaway...

I am surprised how many road captains there are on this forum!!

I suppose you all never exceed the speed limit, never park with wheels on the pavement etc. as well, because they're the right things to do too?!

I'm surprised why no one has asked why you are repeatedly eating your lunch in Tesco car parks?
