Nice, but expensive isn't it?

I asked Phil at Cotswold about the other MSport blue cover which came in at the same price.

There are quite a few fakes on eBay, so be careful with those.

I hate carrying keys at the best of times so what benefit do these give as they just make the fob bigger?

Prevents accidental pushing of the buttons in your pocket then finding the boot open or the car unlocked.

Yeah can be funny seeing those BMWs with boots open when it's raining

Last year I asked this bloke at work about his new Tracker he had fitted to his new BMW.

I asked him if he was testing it by leaving his boot open

He has his key in his pocket and sitting at his desk had inadvertently opened his boot lol.

Yeah, bit annoying that I have to pay £40 to fix a problem on a £40k car.

Well, whatever I said to my dealer seems to have worked... They've just offered me one for free!

Good to hear, £40 is very steep for a keycase!

DO NOT BUY IT

bought one for my X5 key. Felt apart after 2 weeks the bolt through the middle seems like it should be a nice metal affair, you know like a normal bolt! actually the end is metal rest of it is a glued plastic part, you can see where this is going right? and surprise surprise it snapped after 2 weeks use. Not good for a £40-50 key case.

Took mine back. Total crap.

Got full refund. Dealer didn't quibble once I showed them where it broke.

Just try not to drop the key now

I bought one late November last year and the blue metal bolt has already sheered by the head - which wasn't over tightened as it goes into a plastic sleeve!

I've emailed BMW to see if they will send me a couple of placement pins but yet to receive a proper reply...

Vile artefact, mine is now used for the spare, it's too bulky, poorly made and makes your key look like you have a large trouser snake. I suppose that's the only upside!

I got one after sitting on my sofa with my keys in my pocket on a rainy day...
Wet boot floor.
I've had my one about 18 months, and it's fine.
Also, distinguishes nicely between my key and her key. Ideal for profiles mapped to the key.
I think my one came off Amazon.

Wouldn't it be nice if the new 7 series key was something that could be put in a wallet and forgotten with keyless entry, instead of the even bigger key with a screen it's been given. I would pay extra for a credit card sized key.
Then on the next 3 series we could all look forward to keeping the boot / tailgate shut until needed.

My blue screwhead sheared off too. I ordered a replacement stainless steel one off ebay (M3 x10mm) and popped a washer on the other side, bit of thread lok and it hasn't moved since.

Garage List
5 years, 3 BMWs, never once had a phantom boot-opening.

If putting them in your pocket means the buttons get pressed, then don't buy such tight jeans!
