Injector Question / testing
Long story short, I am in the process of doing a CBU clean on my car. I have the injectors out. Have had a code for #3 injector out of spec. Upon inspection and disassemble I found that the nozzle was partially clogged, it is not cleaned and when I sprayed brake clean through the end nozzle it sprayed nicely.
Now I am torn on putting this and other one that I cleaned back in, mostly on the off chance (very remote) that there is something wrong with it I could potentially do serious damage to the engine. I am also finding it difficult to justify spending big money on replacing them on that 'chance'. Does anyone know of a company that can test my injectors at a cost effective price. Or know of a procedure. |

No dice on Exergy. Just spoke with Rob over there, very nice guy, but sadly they do not do testing on BMW stuff. He said in the past they have done some specialty work, but the market is not there and he can not help me.
Thanks for the try though. Next... ha |

If you were getting codes pre CBU clean, you'll likely be good. I had 3 injector codes that went away after CBU cleaning and DDE update. Might just try that before you ship injectors out.

Yes I know. But I took these two apart. I am 99.2% sure I got them back correctly, but its that 0.8% that has me thinking I should not risk ruining my motor over.

Yea, its kinda a all or nothing type thing.
The second one got pulled apart because I messed up my layout on the first one. However all 6 have major build up on the nozzle. Def need cleaning, but in retrospect maybe I could have avoided the curiosity of opening it up |

Talked to one of the big boys at Exergy I met back in the fall and they are very interested in product development for us. With collaborative effort, an injector and pump will be in their hands shortly for testing/development work. The target is 30-40% more injector flow and cp3 flow to match, so no crazy fire hose nozzles. Also, after this they will be familiar with our injectors and to able to perform cleaning and calibration on oem units as well.
It was acknowledged the sales guys turned away the recent calls on 335d injectors as they aren't intimately familiar with them at the exact second and didn't want to make a customer wait if he needed them back in a hurry. |

^ they sure did. There are other companies that'll mod the pump and injectors for us. Bohl has the hook up on this and he should be the first choice for anyone on this forum.

The place I used was reluctant at first until they found that they had done them prior. |

It's not remotely that they're not capable, it's just they're so busy with truck stuff they're running 2 shifts and every machine is booked up. The guts of 95% of Bosch piezo injectors are extremely similar, basically just orfice size changes. So, all the sales guys have orders to turn away any type of goofy projects. If I wouldn't have met the owner drag racing and became friends, I wouldn't have had any pull in getting in line with guys that are spending 20x monthly what the bmw world will generate in a year.

Bosch Injector testing
Folks...based on the fact that the ONLY place that shows up in my location is the shop that had the testing machine... I think if you use this page...and select the Diesel Service center.... you will find someone that can slap your injector into the machine and it will do everything without failure..
