Help Needed: My car came with wrong struts!!!
Hey everyone, so i have a 2015 228xi with only 2k miles, the car got into a minor accident and i got my left suspension damaged, i ordered all the parts from the dealership and upon instilling everything i noticed the car sits funny, i checked part numbers on the struts and they are not the same, my original strut set was 31316791543 for the left strut and 31316791544 for the right side,
my dealer ordered a 31316791553 for the left side which on realm.com fits f22,f30 Xdrive models, when i ran my old part number it comes back on realoem.com as from a f20/f21 1 series. My car has the sport line package and i was wondering if anyone with a sport line 228i xdrive can check what part number their strut has, it seams odd that my car came with 1 series struts. If you turn the wheels to the outside you can peak into the wheel well and see the part number, that will be of much help! thats guys, hoping i can figure out what the heck is going on with this mix up. |

The part would be correct for the RWD 2 series it sounds like as they share components with the 1 series (f20). Strange that it would have it on the x drive model though.

stand and xi don't typically share the same strut as the xi struts are typically shorter to accommodate the front half shaft.
