Talking 340i MPG...sorry, another 340i fatuation thread

Took a drive to Clivedon NT this afternoon with the family and was amazed at the MPG. I obviously didn't buy the 340i for its economy so I am really pleasantly surprised. This was a mixture of A roads, town driving and stop start traffic.

As long as I average towards 30, I'll be happy

Got about 25 from E30 325i and 24 from E92 335i but do more miles now

Thats pretty good for a 3 litre turbo!

So they have a 60 litre tank as well as decent mpg, what sort of miles are people getting to a tank, is 450 miles achievable?

Wow! That's phenomenal! I got around 450 miles from my 320i, so I'm expecting less from the 340

No, comfort and the occasional sport (I didsabled the iDrive display so wife doesn't comment 'what is sport mode??' ). I tried Eco pro once and will never again, totally ruins the car for 1-2mpg.

That's a sort of economy I'm having in my 335d if not worse, of course I can show you now 51 mpg which I menaged now on 10 miles trip after refuelling. Mainly on motorway with no traffic and partially down hill but honestly I hardly touched acceleration. My average on 25k miles is about 36 mpg.

As a theoretical range it probably is but if like me you bottle out as soon as the warning light comes on I doubt you'll get 450 miles between fill-ups unless you're taking it easy on a long-run....

I'm not sure, probably 400 miles max. I filled up over the weekend when the fuel light was showing with range of 40 miles, filled to the max and the range went to 375 miles. Weirdly it only took 50 litres so the fuel light is a bit pessimistic as the tank is 60 litres.

Still very impressive, even if it could, you wouldn't because you'd want a few days a week to use it properly

I'm not sure about 450 to a tank. Possibly in ECO drive

I usually get around 370, but last week i got 410, then today i only got around 345. Fueled up when at 0 miles left in the tank according to the OBC & only took 58 litres. So if it's a 60 tank, you may have around another 15 miles to play with.

You can turn that off in the options so that only appears in the dash and not the lcd screen.

Garage List
Averaging low 30's but then I don't do a huge amount of town driving, mostly dual carriageways and country lanes. Generally stick to the limits but plenty of ahem 'brisk' acceleration. Saw a tankful with an average of 37.5mpg but that was almost all motorway.... and before the 'granny' remarks come in from you guys getting mid 20's - if I hooned it about everywhere then my front bumper would be full of rabbits, pheasants, deer, ducks and pensioners as there's a lot of them critters around these parts!

My average is creeping up (engine loosening up?) from mid 20's.

My wife got 42mpg on a 40 mile motorway run the other day in crowded/speed restricted conditions which prevented pushing on and forced a steady cruise at 60-75mph. Not what the car was bought for but does show what it can do if driven with economy in mind. That was in comfort mode.
