Wheel Spacers - Lesson Learnt!

Following on from the other wheel spacer thread, I fitted my Eibach spacers from Lorcan today and I now already see why they're better!

They are larger diameter than the generic ones I had, so they go all the way to the edge of the wheels mounting face! And they fit over the plastic hub covers, which I had to remove for the generic ones to fit!

Plus of course there is the piece of mind that they are a quality TUV approved item.

Here's a comparison of the 2:

Others highlighted it to me to be fair! But yes I think it's important to pass on the knowledge.

Personally I wouldn't be concerned unless you're getting vibrations etc...as my Macht Schnell spacers had a similar fit on my old F10 and I had no issues.

I've just put 15mm on rear, mainly to balance out the ride height difference which looked much lower on the rear.

Around £86 for spacers. Lorcan can sell you ACS bolts but they only come in chrome, so I used the bimecc extended black bolts I got with my old spacers, £8 per 4 here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/182042655919

Plus I bought mcgard black extended locking bolts, £37 here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/400863702138

yes m8 the visually look exactly the same as your acs ones. diameter wise they are as your previous ones were. your post made me go a check. did not have to remove the dust caps however. if that means anything.

It is highly unlikely that even my old generic ones would cause any problems, but for the sake of £30-40 more per pair on a £30-50k car, it is worth spending that little extra.

Not to mention it helps fund Lorcan's yacht in the Bahamas!

No indeed, that's why I went for good ones as well.

Strangely enough mine landed today. Bought the whole set off Lorcan 15 rear and 12 front plus extended bolts and ACS locking bolts for £250.

Couldn't blag an AC Schnitzer sticker off the tight git though

Think I'll wait until I put my summers back on though.

You can't beat piece of mind I suppose.

Sorry for the daft question, but what do they actually do other than making the wheels stick out a bit more?

Think that's it.

Technically make your cars track a bit wider so in theory should improve handling by reducing roll and lowering centre of gravity etc etc but in reality you probably won't notice the difference.

Psychologically they add at least 50 bhp and make your manhood better and larger.

That is the main reason, so the wheels don't looked pinched in and tucked away in the arches. Also because it brings the wheel out it makes the arch gap look bigger, which is the main reason I fitted them on the rear, to balance out the visual ride height front to rear.

Any pics of the car then teaston, after you've fitted them?
