440i Carbon Black with what interior?

Ok I am finalising my 440i order and the Mrs has declared she wants it in Carbon Black.

I fancy Ivory White leather interior. I know this is a popular combo with you guys. Can anyone comment on the longevity of Ivory? My main concern is after a couple of years the leather will discolour or get ingrained with dirt in the stitching. I have seen plenty AUC cars with somewhat dated looking leather.

I have always had black leather for the interior so am a little anxious how this would last.

If not I probably would spec Black Dakota but with a black exterior it might look a little dark! Having said all that I have included a sunroof so that should brighten it up somewhat.

Cheers

I'd go for Cashmere Beige Merino lthr. Merino is so much better than Dakota

I can't justify the extra cost on that If it was a couple of hundred quid maybe.

I have the Cashmere Merino but I don't really think it is worth the extra over Oyster Dakota, I wouldn't spec it again.

Another plus with the Oyster is you can spec a black leather dash which is what I wish I had done

Bit off topic but I can't see Carbon Black on the configurator for the 4 or the 4GC. In fact the 4 GC doesn't even show as being available with a 6 cylinder petrol engine

Any way I'd go for Saddle Brown with either Piano Black or Ash grain trim
edit...I also like Coral Red with either of the above trims, gives you a red dash bottom as well which looks pretty good IMO

I originally ordered mine with an ivory white interior which I had seen on a 428i at the dealer. Then worried about getting it dirty from jeans as this happened on my 525D a couple of years ago.

Went through the colours with the Mrs and decided on Coral Red and changed the order. Now worried about how that will look when the paint looks blue. But as its now "Confirmed for production" I can't change it any more. So Coral Red it is and I'm not excited at all!

Coral red and Carbon Black are a fantastic combo IMO and would be my first choice. Having had Cream Beige on my e61, never again unless the car is for me and me only.

Ivory white Dakota - EASY Dakota leather might not be the highest grade leather but I believe it is coated, so regular cleaning and apply some sealant/protector and I'm sure you'll be fine

I have ivory and so long as you wipe it with a Dr Leather wipe it's fine.
Dye does transfer but it wipes off.
My brother has a black interior. He's always complains it shows dust and fluff.

It's dark enough in the cabin - go light!

The Mrs has declared she likes both Black and Ivory. I think a trip to the dealer this weekend is in order...also want to check out the Carbon Black in the sun and see if you can see the blue hint to it it was dull and raining last weekend when I test drove one.

Definitely CORAL RED but with leather dash to keep the whole dash black.

Unless you're over 60, in which case go for boring black, or grandad beige!

Even in the rain, if you put CB and BS together the difference would be very noticeable. The black/blue exterior in combination with CR is stunning. A classic combo for e46 M3's

I do like the CR but don't like the red under dash or whatever it's called. If I order leather dash the cost is just getting too much.

I wish you ask them not to do that part in red!

Great news that everything is now behind you and moving on with the new car, great choice in the 440i.

Check out the other thread on carbon black 3 pictures of carbon black all look different. I found that it doesn't have to be sunny to see the blue but that's when it's at its best

Thanks - still waiting for the cash though.

First world problem choosing colour combinations for cars!! I have at the moment:

CB with IW
CB with Black
MG with CR
MG with Black

You want it to be correct and they are all nice. Need to roll a dice...
