Turbo Charger?

I am wondering if I could put a turbo charger on my 325i sedan?

Ive looked at different companies sites and they don't say what will fit what they give these dimensions of wheel and housing. I dont know what all that stuff is.

Please help me out.

it's really hard deciding which thread of yours is worse; the 325 vs mustang one or this one.

short answer is NO, do a little search, lots of talk, but no action from aftermarket companies.

It's really complicated (and very expensive) to add turbochargers under the 325i's hood: reprogram the engine's computer, add intercooler, and so on.

I don't think the 325i's engine is designed for turbochargers. I think the 325 and 328 engine blocks are made of magnesium. 335i's engine block is made of aluminum.

yea and if you add a turbo charger to your 325, you can kiss your resale value good bye... it's easier to just get a 335...

+1

Plus it has been said and discusssed, the VANOS system in the N52s would not gel well with turbocharging. An aftermarket supercharger solution will work best, if the aftermarket ever comes out with an N52 specific solution, that is.

HorsePowerFreaks made a turbo for the 330 but they couldn't get the ecu to work along side the boost.... i think that was the only problem.

If you are going custom turbo for your 325, might as well find a way to work this turbo in.

Go big or go home.

You can put a turbo on any engine or platform. Whether or not it will be worth your time and money at the end of the day is for you to decide. Just think though that you will need to build a custom exhaust manifold, downpipe, chargepipes, and engine management tuning. You will also need a turbo, FMIC, BOV, supporting fuel mods like injectors/fuel pump (are there any even available?). Then you will need to see if your drivetrain is up to spec to handle the new power.

From my own past experience turbocharging a NA car with a supposedly "bolt-on" kit, it ended up being a HUGE headache on top of costing an arm and a leg to get the car to run remotely close to stock.

I would just sell your car and buy something that suits your needs better, and that's coming from someone who has already traveled down that road.

How about just adding nitrous? Has anyone here done that?

Some garages will offer to make you a custom kit and program a piggy-back chip and reprogram for your car. The place i went to said they would do it for me for about 7g's (but i would need to supple the turbo exhaust manifold :P). So if you really want to do it, it can be done. Just gonna cost a bit... and have no warranty. So if anything breaks, you gotta pay to get it fixed.
