I have just received one of my wheels back from the repairers and the entire face of the wheel is riddled with pock marks. The repairers say that this is normal however If I knew the wheel would come back like this I wouldn't have gone ahead. I have sent photos to the insurance company, however I was looking for other opinions. I will upload photos as soon as i can. Thanks.

Who did this work, they are crap for sure.
The wheel should look new when finished.

This. Who repaired so we can avoid? Decent companies like Pristine Wheels in MK wouldn't leave you in this mess

Hope you get sorted, OP.

That's disgraceful and not acceptable IMO.

How you resolve it is another matter, probably via your insurer who are in essence paying for it.

wow. i can tell you for absolute certain this is not *normal* atall. depending on how it was refurbished, if it was cut back you may see some of the undercoat around the edges where its cut through. that is normal. but bobbly / shite work like that is terrible. its hard to see in the pics but id say the top coat they have applied has failed and has not cured properly

I have phoned the repairer and they basically said this defect is unavoidable. They also said that all they can do is cut the entire wheel again and still can't guarantee it will be better. I find it hard to believe that some 403m's will repair ok yet others will look like the crap they have sent back to me.

Sounds like an excuse to me. If this was an issue in real life, then firstly you'd have heard about it from others that have had 403s refurbed, but also any decent company would have warned you up front that they won't look like new after refurbing.

Don't shoot me for saying this, but have you washed them off? Are you certain that it's not some residual shit on the surface? As I say, don't shoot me, it just looks similar to how mine come up sometimes...

Unfortunately these photos were taken after washing. I asked a well known wheel refurb company their opinion, which is as follows.

'Unfortunately we feel that the defects is most likely due to the quality and poor casting of the wheel itself. In other words, the defects will very likely continue into the alloy. Whilst you wouldn't expect this from a relatively new wheel, it's certainly not unheard of. If you had the wheel refurbished again you would very likely achieve the same result. '

This is very disappointing to hear because in my opinion I'm now left with a wheel in worse condition than the very slight scrape it had previously.

I had the exact same thing, same company, same wheels, same story.
They had done another 403 for me before with great results.
Far less noticeable when you aren't specifically looking for it.
Real shame as service otherwise was excellent.

Print that out and take it to your dealer as it sounds like a manufacturing defect. They may blow you off or they may decide they'd prefer the continued business of a happy customer.

It does look "casting or forging" problem to me now seeing the pictures.

I would go back to the dealership with your evidence.

I'd expect Dealership will then offer to refurb; if you pay them.
