New water to air intercooler on B58

Any news on if this system is any better than the N55's cooler? I know the inter cooler on my 2013 135i was pretty terrible. In the summer with a Jb4, timing was being pulled pretty much all the time due to high IAT. I know stock PSI is up from the N55 so hopefully they had to compensate for that with a better cooler.

On the other hand, the M3's new water to air system is phenomenal and doesn't break a sweat even with a jb4.

Theoretically, water conducts heat way better than air so I would say it is. The coolant for the intercooler is run through an electric pump so I'm sure it can adjust it's cooling capacity as needed.

Also, the fact that the intercooler is moved so close to the engine itself (integrated into the manifold) removes the need of a lot of the piping from the turbo to the intercooler and hence better throttle response.

Had a similar setup with my supercharged E46 M3. It was one of the reasons I chose it over traditional air/air cooling.

Just thinking out loud here, is there a chance there's a coolant additive product out there that may aid in cooler intake temps?
