M2 on coilovers?

is it me or does it seem like all M2s that were test driven by journalists (both manual and DCT) seem to be on coilovers? all vids I've seen seem to have much lower ride height than stock .

for those journalists or members that saw M2 at Laguna Seca, can u confirm this?

The car is so fast, in corners it goes down on all four shocks. It's a race car.
In all seriousness... actually, I have nothing serious to add. Would be weird if they dropped it for all review drives. Maybe press photos, butt review derives?

Of course they did not have the M Performance suspension on them. Journalist drive the cars as they are from the factory. Except for the MotoGP car.

Yeah. I figured BMW was providing the car to be reviewed as is, and not advertising their performance parts that got more press after the reviews/debut of the performance car than anything else.

Throughout the reviews, journalist consistently wrote about M2 having M3/4 suspension parts. I would think that is the case as M performance parts do not apply to this writing.

So it begs the question again. If the stock suspension is so magical on the track, other than height adjustability, can it be that much better than stock to warrant the investment?

Coilovers are a fantastic upgrade and will be better than the stock M2 set up.

The answer could be no. But the answer is also subjective, I feel. The suspension has been factory engineered to perform based on the driving dynamics and standards intended for this car to meet. According to the reviews (again, subjectively directed), there is no mention of the possibility of enhancing the performance characteristics by employing M-Performance suspension.

Does this mean it is a waste of money? No. Does it mean it will deter people who want it from getting it? Probably not.

The option is there if folks choose to spec their cars with it. I myself would like a coilover option covered by a BMW warranty that is also engineered specifically for the car, and will take whatever other advantages come from it.

Sorry for the rant, sir. It's been a long day fighting ignorance on the internet.

No problem, Brah. Point well taken. Just raising the question. Everything aftermarket doesn't make it better.

Cool. Will be interested to see what you think. Are you going to get them straight away or ride on the stocks for a little bit first?

It depends on what you want. The M2 is still a compromise so it has a suspension from the factory that would make the car tolerable as a daily driver. I'm sure the MP suspension will make it perform better on the track but might make it too harsh on the road...for some. I will wait and see how I like the stock setup but I will probably go with the coilovers at some point.

There have been complaints about ride comfort in some reviews - the same applies for the M3 as well. The Comp pack takes it even further...

Don't forget that the BMW M Performance/KW V3 are adjustable - ride height, rebound, and compression.

I will be putting the M perf. suspension on order as soon as it is available. Probably my most sought after mod as I prefer the sportiest ride anyway. Plus the warranty!

And it doesn't hurt that it will look meaner with the -25mm...

I have to admit, lowered M cars have one of the meanest looks out there due to those menacing headlights. Scary seeing such a car behind you, especially at night...but in a good way! Looks like a low lying snake ready to pounce.

I thought it was just me! The F80/F84 look absolutely demonic. Especially in darker colors.

Yeah, it was BMW starting the whole 'angel eyes' thing from what I recall. I had a 2000 Z3 at the time when they just started getting that into their cars. I guess there is some patent or trademark on it (to some degree, since I do see other cars with similar headlights), but they have mastered the 'evil eye' look. M cars have one of the best front fascia on the road for sure.
