Carbon fiber hood question
I just installed a carbon fiber hood on my car, but the gap in the front is slightly bigger than what I want. Most people probably won't notice it, does anyone have the same issue with their hood?
Previous owner had it installed with the springs taken out on the latch. If I go that route, the hood won't pop up when you release the latch. Does anyone have any suggestion? Last edited by BMSE92_Harry; 02-24-2016 at 04:03 AM.. |

I rarely see carbon fiber hoods fit perfect, best bet would be to find a body shop and maybe they can put spacers under the bumper to raise it up a bit. I'm sure they can figure something out with fitment

That's what I'm hoping. Also hoping that any issues is from my lack of skills when it comes to my part installation skills.

My previous car had CF trunk and hood and neither fit as well an OEM. Fit was ok, but no where near OEM if you are anal or comparing the hoods/trunks aftermarket vs. oem right next to each other. I would assume a steel aftermarket hood should fit closer to OEM. Also I would always run hood pins with fiberglass/CF hoods. I have experienced a hood coming up on the highway and it's a fucking miracle i'm alive. Always run hood pins kids, and yes they look like shit.

FWIW, Locking Aerocatches with impact cages are an alternative but they do require a bit more effort to install correctly.

They are better than the old school hood pins in the looks department. My buddy had them on his CF hood and they were decent. I would probably get those if I went with a CF hood. If I change my hood at all I would prefer steel...

I have them on my CF hood and they seem to work well as far as I can tell.
