335d Service Inclusive Plus worth it?

I have to decide between:
  1. Not getting a service plan -£0
  2. Service Inclusive - £475 (Just gone up to £525, but I can get the old price until next week)
  3. Service Inclusive Plus - £1475

Just spoke to the dealer who are trying to sell the packages and they state the servicing costs are:
  • 1st service 18,000 miles £275
  • 2nd service 36,000 miles £495
  • Brake fluid change at 3 Years £100

With these figures the £475 Service Inclusive looks like a no brainer. But have others with the 335d had their Brakes, Disks or Clutch replaced before 50,000 miles?
I don't think I have ever had a first set of pads last less than 60k on a brand new car. And disks should last for more than one set of pads, right?

I'm suffering the same toil at the moment having ordered a 335d. Thinking of pulling service inclusive but can't decide either! The servicing happens a lot sooner than 18 and 36 as its based on driving style/ conditions. Some people need that first service at 12k... I tried to get it thrown in but I think a lot depends on how hard a bargain you drive on on the car...

For your information my pads were replaced at 33k.

A local Indy done them for me at £130 fitted. BMW wanted £300

You don't need the inclusive plus package as it is unlikely you will have to replace discs and pads to the value of £1000 in 50k miles, but the service inclusive is worth considering.

Can't really see how the plus package could save money over the term, but with the standard one you should at least break even, or be ahead of you can squeeze in the third service.

Doesn't the service pack also include oil top ups?
Sure i've read that somewhere. Not sure how often a BMW diesel needs topping up though. I know Audi's like to drink oil.

Yes it does, but I'd have to have a dealer within a couple of miles of where I lived to bother with that!

66k miles and not needed a drop of oil in between a service yet, so I'd say the 35d engine uses bugger all!

Mine said 19,000 when I picked up the car, I have done over 2,000 and it’s reading service due in 18,000. (Just FYI I’m getting average 39.6mpg)
I squeezed the life out of the deal on the car, the finance guy phoned me a weak after saying no to my price, and agreed so he could hit the dealership sales target.

Tengocity did you have pads/disks replaced?

I was reading some US centric posts that mentioned an issue with the 3 series and warped disks, which is why I was interested to see if people in the UK have had them replaced at low mileage but it seems not.
My conclusions so far…
  • Sounds like the average distance for pads is 30k+ and will cost between £130 and £300
  • No one has mentioned disk replacement
  • No one has mentioned clutch replacement
  • If the car is going to be with you for more than 36,000 miles then Service Inclusive is worth it, and if not should at least increase resale value

I had to change pads at about 35k and also did the disks, but that was because I wanted the M Performance dimples and grooved ones.

I'm still on original discs + pads at 45k. At 40k i was told the pads are not far off needing doing at the front. I'm covering alot of motorway miles.

I'll be putting the car in for pads when it tells me to i presume, its been saying 3000 miles on idrive since about 35k!

I guess that's not for 335d/m sport brembo caliper pads though as the pads alone are more than £130!
