Hi guys! Just wanted to say hello!
Here are a few pics: I also have a few questions right away, would appreciate if more experienced X1 owners could help me out: 1. Precondition option on the BMW remote, it is not remote start? I tried it and it only turns on the blower, not the engine. There's no use for the blower if the engine is cold, it won't heat the car. Do I miss something here? 2. How do you open trunk by utilizing the leg only? It's not easy to figure out how to do it corrently, works 1 out of 5 times. 3. Do you have both exhausts blowing out? It seems to me that the right one is not working. I see it because it's cold here, exhaust gases are coming out only from the left one. Strange. 4. How to change radio stations/cd tracks from the steering wheel? Seems not to convenient to use i-Drive for this. Thanks in advance for your answers. Last edited by AMOR; 07-07-2018 at 11:30 AM.. |

Congrats, im also in brooklyn area.
1. bmw remote- you can download app BMW remote and you can unlock, lock, headlight flash and see where you parked x1. 2. to open tailgate with foot swipe, u cant stand too close to tailgate. Usually its soft kick under bumper center. do not kick bumper lol 3. left side usually see smoke but right one will open after 1500 rpm or 2000 rpm 4. control are on right side of steering wheel knob n volume. Preset stations first . you have HUD- head up display. you can see MPH and navi routes on windshield. To activate go on the IDRIVE menu under Settings make sure its checked. |

Thanks!
1. Yes I downloaded and tried the remote features, everything seem to work. I was just asking if it's possible to launch the engine remotely from the BMW app to pre-heat the car. Now the pre-condition feature only starts the blower, it's blowing cold air, not heating up the car. 2. That's exactly how I do it, still doesn't work well enough. BMW needs to work on this :\ 3. Tried revving at idle, still no smoke until 3-4k rpm from the right exhaust 4. I guess I'll need to read the manual on this, on my E90 volume/radio controls are more intuitive and could be controlled with left hand, which is more convenient also. I could change stations with up/down buttons, nothing like that here. Need to figure this out Last edited by AMOR; 07-07-2018 at 11:30 AM.. |

The passenger-side exhaust only opens up under hard acceleration. I recently learned that BMW has been using the same valve technology on many BMW models since mid 2000s... I only noticed recently on an E70 X5 that exhaust only emits from the driver-side exhaust at idle just like F48 X1. I guess I had never noticed because I'd lived in CA with temperature rarely dips below 50 for the past 21 years...

Congrats on the purchase. Your X1 looks awesome in Jet Black and the 19s. I wanted 19s because I think they look the best but didn't wanna switch the summer tires. Enjoy it.

Just one question. I notice in your interior picture that your temperature is set at 24. That's speaks celsius to me. Don't you guys down in the US use the farenheir system? Is there the option on your car to change it? Just curious. Thanks |

It seems to me that I still have all-season tires, though they are lower profile and 19 inch wheels. Quote:
And yes, you can easily change those settings for the on-board computer of the vehicle. |

Congrats on the new car! The pre-conditioning is not remote start. It only activates the fan and uses battery power. The engine does not start.
For the tailgate, try standing a bit further away from the bumper. Kick your foot inwards like you are punting a football. The motion is not a side to side wave like on Ford vehicles. Be sure to schedule an "Encore" appointment. A BMW Genius will go over in detail all th the features of the car and you will receive a pair of B&W headphones.

Also, 19" wheels come with summer performance tires (unless your dealer swapped them for all season tires). Be careful in that snow up there!

window sticker says "remove all season tires" he may be driving with summer tires.
You should check tires. My x4 came with summer tires, i wasnt aware until I search online what kind of tires it came. I had to buy all season tires. |

Will try standing a bit further for the tail-gate, I think I'm standing too close. Thanks for the Encore, it's a good advise indeed, I've already scheduled one yesterday. And the headphones are cool too! |
