Rear Seats

Apologies if this has been asked before....

I have submitted my order but I am debating whether I should add the adjustable rear seats. I am getting conflicting information as to the functionality that these provide.

Does this option allow you to increase the legroom available over the stock car without the adjustable rear seat? I understand that you can decrease the legroom and increase the boot space but does it work the other way around?

My sales rep said it only decreases, however I'm sure that I read that it also increases

I don't know the answer to your question. I got it because it allows for recline adjustability too.

I didn't order it and wish I had tbh. The loan car we had did have this feature and the rear seemed roomier and more comfortable than our car somehow. Add to that you get the cool electronic seat release too.

Thanks, sold!

I've asked SA to add, even though it breaks through my £41k limit... Think I'll regret it some where along the line.

I do have them: I can't answer your question on increased legroom, although I echo Washy's impression that it does seem more than the demonstrator and showroom cars I tried. The electric release in the boot is very handy, as otherwise it would be awkward to to fold the seats from the boot. Just wish it would put them back up again!

Ans is YES it increases the leg room in the sense - if you do not add them, the standard fixed seat will have the maxm luggage space and minm leg space. If you add the sliding seat, it can be pushed backed to minimize luggage space and thus increasing the leg space. So it increased by few inches if you add them, when needed.

I think it's the other way around: without the sliding seats, you have maximum legroom; with them, you can slide the seat(s) forward to increase luggage space.

Check this video:

Around 24 mins he says for sliding seat he has more leg room, which implies without sliding leg room will be less.

Thanks for that. The sliding rear seat is standard on all models in Australia, and when I was shown this by the dealer, I was told there was no change in rear legroom, but the slide was available to increase luggage space if not carrying (large) rear seat passenger(s). That video implies the legroom in 3cm greater with the sliding seat over the fixed seat. Interesting!

Added the sliding rear seats and my SA just emailed to say that they are going to be a standard feature on UK cars from March onwards with a price rise of £160 to account for the additional equipment. Therefore they only charged me £160 for the seats. Worth putting them on your car if you're currently specifying one up...

If you have the sliding seats, I think I read you also get the auto seat folding buttons in the rear cargo area which are really useful.
I have both but I'm not sure if in the UK you get the button irrespective.
Perhaps someone without sliding rear seats could confirm this?

We didn't order the sliding seats and we don't have the buttons to fold the seats. I wish we had included them to be honest.

Sliding back seats

Hi, I am new to this forum as I have just bought two new BMW a X1 M.Sport and a M4 Convertible.

When I ordered my X1 according to the UK Price list and Build you car online the sliding back seats come as Std. To my surprise my car did not have sliding back seats.

My question is: are sliding back seats a option or do they come as Std in the UK?

They were an option up until March orders whereby there was a small price rise and they were then included as standard equipment for orders placed from that point onwards

We don't have them on ours and to be honest the number of times we would need to fold the seats flat or slide them back and forth for rear passengers is very low. The quick release for the standard seat are little loops between the seats in the cabin and work very well. The seat backs ping forward easily and are the same as the 'electric' release seat back in that you push them upright back into position. The seat belts are not in the way with either system. So in short not missing the electric release or the sliding option.
