Ordering Not Yet Available For USA?

Called my dealer in Houston, Advantage BMW. I'm very close to top of their list. Was told they didn't receive allocations and ordering has not yet started yet (for us regular people not receiving HEA - if I am understanding that process correctly. I may be a bit confused). How are people already ordering in the US? My rep seemed legit and has no reason to be dishonest about anything. Reading that people are getting their car already built and this dealer hasn't even gotten to the first step!

Apparently, some US dealers got a few allocations and orders taken last week - beyond the dealer assigned launch car.

4/5 of the dealers I am dealing with have said "regular folk" allocations have not been released yet. They are all saying beginning of Feb. The 1/5 is an out of state dealer that I think is lying since he already told me he has/had 2 customer allocations.

Try to be patient...I know it's hard when we are this close.

I placed an order on 1/21 for a non HEA car

I have been #1 on that list for over a year, not sure if that had anything to do with it or not.

Mine only got 1 so far and I'm #2. Hopefully they get another allocation soon. Would be terrible if they were only getting 1 even though they are M certified.

My order is placed and finalized. I got the options list about a week ago. My dealer is getting two cars. I was number one (put my name on the list a year ago) but dealer bumped me to number 2 to keep one number for themselves.

Car #1 is April delivery. My car (#2) has an approximate delivery of May.

Are these cars actual allocations with production number? and did you get a production number when you ordered?

Another dealer I am working with did the same thing. Owner is grabbing the #1 car. But I am glad you still will get one. Hopefully you can wait and not in a time crunch.

Looks like you have a number of cars so this shouldn't be an issue, but if it were me I'd have the dealer give me something nice to drive for a month or two while I waited the extra time for the M2 since they bumped me. Should not be a problem in the slightest, others in the same situation could absolutely get something to drive if needed.

Point of reference, my brother had a C4S coupe and ordered the soon to be released cabrio. There was like a 6-month gap between end of coupe lease and availability on cabrio, and they just gave him a Panamera to drive the entire time, no charge. Granted that's an extreme example but all of these things are doable.

What exactly does a production number mean for a realistic timeline? The dealer said they managed to get me a car by trading their launch car for a modifiable allocation (or something like that). I got a production number and dealer sales documents. It shows up in mybmw as ordered.

It's supposed to be produced week 15. I think that's about middle of April. Can I expect this car here by the end of May, or could this drag on for the entire summer?

You are almost totally screwed. 6-8 weeks after SOP.

Cannot be true. Unless that is what they anticipate over the next 12mo.

Some dealerships say they receive notice of their M2 allocations for the entire year. This is not an anticipated number, but an exact figure. Other dealerships which do not have this arrangement are completely incredulous that it's possible. BMW may be experimenting with different allocation models.

Yeah, it was BMW of Silver Spring. Like I'd said before, the salesman advised me that since they landed near/at the top of their region in sales of M cars, that they received a higher allocation ceiling.

I'm not a car salesman, but it made sense to me. Hopefully BMW would do some research before sending a bunch of M2 slots to areas where they wouldn't be spoken for immediately.
