Get ready for a recall

Had the dealer pick up the car today for "tire noise" well after he got it to the shop he told me that my car has two different recalls both for reprogramming the computer... He will have it for a day and a half. He also told me that it will take 400 minutes to reprogram the first recall and 200 minutes for the second? jeez...anyway...you might want to ask your dealer for more info...my dealer told me this recall just came out a day or so ago

Yeah, I just had mine in for a tire replacement (picked up a nail a few days ago) and they did the software update. Took about a half day.

For those who just had a car finish production...will the VPC do these, and any necessary updates, or will one have to deal with these at the dealership?

As far as I know the VPC is supposed to install the latest software updates if they were not already done at the factory (i.e. the update came out when the car was on the boat).

I keep seeing posts about recalls for software updates, an official recall would effect all E90 owners and we would be notified by mail to schedule an appointment with the dealer.

This is my first BMW, do they do this?

Yup this is true. I just got a call from my local dealership here in California who informed me that there is in fact a recall to have the computer reprogrammed with two software updates. Don't know what the updates are for as the receptionist didn't know. I've scheduled the work to be done in a couple of weeks from now and the dealer said they will in fact need the care for a whole day. Luckily, they're providing a loaner car. When I get the car done, I'll post what the software updates are for...

Well...I did receive a mail notification from my dealer.

It states....

Our records indicate that your BMW 330 may be due for its scheduled maintenance service. Plus, there may be outstanding recalls or campaingns that have not been completed on your BMW 330. There repairs are free and can enhance the performance, finish, or functions of your vehicle. Please call...blah blah for your service reservation.

I just have not had the time to go in to get this done. Mine is a pre-sept production vehicle.

All pre-september USA cars have a service action, not recall, to have the software updated to the latest version at its next service
