Esso website contains waffle about high detergent content cleaning intake valves...whereas we know most of our engines are DI, so never see a drop of fuel on the valves!

Keep the dad jokes coming.

I was forced to fill up with it as I let the tank run low and when I got stuck in traffic I didn't think I'd make it to Shell. The car has has nothing but v power since new. The stuff was pretty similar to v power upon first impression. I only put a twenty worth of 'tiger in the tank.'

There seems to be a huge marketing campaign going on here and it is being advertised on every other billboard. Double Tesco points too.

I have e-mailed Esso asking two questions: 1. What is the RON? 2. What is the ethanol content?

Let's see what they say.

I've used Esso Super Unleaded ever since I got my car in 2012 only use Super Unleaded and to be fair and I know fact that I've never had any fuel related issues whatsoever, we've only just had a Shell garage arrive locally to us so I'm tempted to give the car a dose of their finest to see if there is any detectable difference but TBH perfectly happy with the Esso offering and its given me zero issues.

Re the deep clean statement as Phil's pointed out the petrols on BMW like most modern petrols are direct injection therefore valves and fuel won't be shaking hands but IMO it will help keep things tidy in the fuel lines and the injectors and for that I'm more than happy to go with this sort of fuel

I bought my 325i (3.0L) back in October last year. Always gave it shell nitro but decided last week to try Tesco momentum. Suffice to say, the first start misfire I had has now gone and the car pulls harder than before. Don't know why but my car prefer the Tesco stuff.

I had to fill up with a tank of Esso in France. The stuff was brilliant! Did 400 miles on that bad boy and at decent pace too. Car ran really nicely, maybe better so that v-power. Not used the UK stuff though.

They are owned by the largest oil company in the world, so you'd assume their fuel quality is good.
