Put a deosit down 12/2013, just placed my order today. #1 in St. Louis, MO, USA

I put a deposit down years ago (12/2013) thinking that BMW might make the car... I kind of forgot about it until about a month or so ago. I also haven't been on this forum in a long time.

I currently daily a near perfect e39m5 (which someone will have to take from my cold dead hands). This will be my tenth BMW in my 14 years of driving; 2001 325ci, 2007 335 coupe, 2008 335 coupe, 2009 135, 1995 540, 2010 550, 2006 M3, 1999 M3, 2003 M5.

Anyways, I ordered a 6spd manual, Alpine White without the exec pack.

I should have the first one in my city. I was planning on leasing it, but I think the #s are not going to make any sense.

If I end up getting buyer remorse, how hard do you guys think it is going to be to unload the M2 this summer?

not hard at all... If you're thinking resale I would consider the exec package though - buyers like hearing "fully loaded".

Thanks for the quick reply.

Good point on the exec pack. In case I end up really liking the car and want to keep it, I think the less tech that is in it, the better it will age / less stuff to go wrong.

Congrats! Probably easier to find buyers optioned as "fully loaded". If you plan on keeping it, expect more things to break of course

Did the dealer give you any sense of the leasing #'s? Or is it too early to tell.

He said that they haven't heard anything about the leasing numbers. I'm just going off of a 56% residual, std money factor and 10k per year. It would be above $800/month on a 3yr and at that point, I will just finance it.

This isn't a Honda Accord. Or an M3.

I am sure that BMW NA wants enthusiasts to purchase these , not car hoppers. .Accordingly, expect purchase rates to be more favorable than lease rates.

Agreed. Part of me was thinking at this would lease like an e46m3, but I personally don't think that it is going to happen. For a reference point, in 2001-2006 you would easily lease a $56k m3 for around $700/month with taxes/all-in. A lot has changed in 10 years though. I have no clue how a Honda leases, and frankly hope I never know.

The M2 lease would be a nice option (for the consumer) if the car ends up having a bunch of problems. ie, it is nice to walk away at the end of the term and additionally BMWFS is more than willing to swap out a car if it is plagued (ie my 07 335 ->08 335) during a lease.

I am not sure that BMWNA is doing this to prevent "car hoppers," or is truly aiming this thing at enthusiasts. I personally think that the company is more focused on harvesting a desire for their cars in a new generation (ie people who wear skinny jeans and have a beard). My opinion is that this "enthusiast campaign" is the "in" thing right now, and they think it will sell the most cars.

Will all that being said, if this thing doesn't live up to the hype, I am done considering anything post e92. I will move over to our friends in Stuttgart for the "new" stuff.

This made me laugh. I'm 25 and I don't have a beard, so this makes me happy.

Can't grow one? (clearly joking)

I am one of the oldest people in my office at 30, and also one of the only ones w/out some kind of facial hair.

Congrats on the car. I am on the other side of the state (KC) and I will have a BSM. Hope you love it enough to keep it.

Thanks! You too! Gotta love the black sapphire, my first 335 was BSM. Just enough metallic to hide the inevitable swirls.

I try making it to KC about once a year, I am obsessed with a random Chinese restaurant/chain, Bo Lings... and obviously almost any BBQ. I guess I am also now a Chiefs fan.

Yes, my m235i is BSM and I love it. I dont mind cleaning the car all the time, OCD and will clean it no matter what color.

Good reasons to come to KC and the chiefs! lol!

We have car meets all the time. Cars and coffee is usually once a month. You should stop by. Be nice to have another color M2. I was torn between AW and BSM just like last time. If you get exec, maybe we can trade every other month hahaha

PS - I think the exec package was like $1200 price option right? Thats like $20 a month on a loan. Not too bad. I hate all the backup camera and car trying to tell me how to drive, but I love the heated steering wheel. Driver assistance is the only package I did not get on my 235i. Now they bundled it, so I had to get it.

Ha! At my old job I was in a shirt/tie/blazer as a project manager. Now I wear jeans and polos/boat shoes as a business analyst. Just depends on the environment I suppose LOL.

I personally don't care for facial hair. As soon as my beard starts to grow it gets itchy and irritable, and then I shave it off immediately. Plus the women seem to find me attractive either way, and that's what's important.

30 is such a nice age! I'm looking forward to that.

I thought about it, and ultimately decided not to do it. My OCD got the best of me and the off-center backup camera was going to drive me bonkers. Yeah, I have problems...
