Detailing question - best way to spot swirling?

So I'm going to have my new F30 treated with Gtechniq CS once delivered. The detailer I've engaged has told me to ask the dealers to not clean the car. I've passed this on but I don't trust them - what's the easiest way of spotting swirling? What, if anything, should I take along to pickup and what should I look for?

Appreciate it's probably bloody obvious (big round swirls, you numpty) but just want to make sure I spot anything before I drive off!

Some torches are better than others.

Massively bright is not always best way.

I do. Perhaps that will be sufficient but given the forums obsession with LED torches, it seems I should get one anyway...

Presumably if the car is clean and shiny when you collect it you will know it has been cleaned ?

Not sure a few swirl marks is enough to reject a car anyway

I saw my car as it came off the transporter and it already had a few paint 'scuffs' that the dealer removed....so good luck with the 'don't wash mine I want it perfect'.

They came back and said that they will leave the plastic coverings on. That sounds fine to me, will organise pick up around when I can take it to the detailers so will be case of taking it off (residue will remain) and driving it 20 miles. Not overly fussed about having it shiny for when I pick up. Good things come to those who wait and all that...

Also I wouldn't reject, just kick up a fuss and have them on the hook should the correction up my quote for treatment.

Ha, under no illusions - just don't want unnecessary damage that will need to be fixed.
