So frustrated with my 328i
About 6 months ago, i purchased a daily driver E90 07 328i with sports leather 6mt bluetooth and ipod. Great car, then suddenly with 1800 miles, the car shut off on the freeway and went into complete limp mode. After towing it into the dealership, they found and replaced the entire VANOS system. Took about 2 weeks. Then i get the car back, and the DSC unit goes out 2 days after i get it back.
After all that is taken care of, i drove it for about 2 months without problems and last weekend, i was driving with my girlfriend, and suddenly the car shuts off again. Its stormy and shes freaking out, i threw it in neutral, pulled off the freeway, and restarted teh car. Limp mode again. Dropped off the car at home, next morning, i started it up, check engine light, and limp mode. I drove it where i needed to go, left it, then after a bit got back in, and KW V2s and H&R sways! Such BS! Sorry for my rant. Alex |

Take the car to a different dealership. There is a big difference in service departments between dealerships. If you are in Southern California, go to Rusnak BMW in Westlake Village and schedule an appointment with Dennis Perrin. I have owned BMW's for several years and Dennis Perrin is without a doubt the best service advisor BMW has on the west coast.

problem is, i am from San Diego, but i go to school in Dallas, TX. So the car is out here with me now....
My dealership has been really helpful in the matter. Classic BMW in Plano, TX... Chung is a great service advisor. UPDATE... Service manager called me earlier, i told him that i would like to lemon the car, he asked if he could take the car home tonight, drive it a bit and chk the faults and call me in the morning. I dont mind since they gave me an M Coupe loaner. But problem is, that i think the guy will prolly check for faults and there wont be any, and will call me and say come get your car its ready.... I guess then its lawyer time... |

Yeah.. i'd put my car in as a lemon car too.. Well good luck with it. Hopefully they're not too shady about it and accept the fact that the car has major problems. Keep us updated, I always like to see how BMW reacts to these situations.

I have a similar (not the same) problem. My car stalls out and dies evey now and then. I have had it in the shop 3 times and they just say that "we can not replicate the problem" Its a 2007 E90 328 with Step.

Sorry about your troubles man, i know how you feel. Same thing happened to my 335 with 1200 miles on it. They replaced the whole engine and now i have about 6k miles on it with no problems (knock on wood). You should demand a brand new car... Good luck

I would wait until the car dies again, call BMW Service, and tell them to tow the car themselves. That's unbelievable, you can't just force your car to die when the dealer checks it.. Sometimes I wonder if they actually do check it. I had so many minor problems on my car, and whenever I drive it, I can feel/hear it, and somehow when it goes to the dealer, they "can't replicate the problem".. lol Next time I'm just going to make them try to replicate the problem with me in the car

It definitely sounds like you've got a lemon on your hands! Call BMW NA with your concerns and trust me, I don't think they want a bad rep going around. They are usually pretty good about offering a buy-back option or something of the sort.
On the other side, no problems here with my 328i coupe. It's been rock solid so far! *crosses fingers* |

That is so true and many BMW Car dealer have problems about their cars from BMW engine to the smallest parts. Like mine they almost change the engine but my mechanic found out that BMW 328 control arm is the common parts that easily busted or destroyed in that car. But thanks also for their effort.
Now I always have a check-up first in our local auto salvage yards.Bimmerforums.com also a big help for me for auto parts information and details in repairing. |
