Backing up iDrive address book/destinations

Hi,

Taking the car in for a service and will push for an I-Step upgrade as well - last time they did this, it wiped the address book so I'm looking for a way to reliably do a backup and restore.

Is this possible and if so, where in the menu is it (NBT head unit)?

Thanks,

Saj

You can do that by backing up your personal profile to a USB stick

from a copy of manual

Most settings of the active profile and the saved contacts can be exported. This can be useful for storing and opening personal settings, e.g. if settings are accidentally changed or deleted.

1. "Settings"
2. "Profiles"
3. "Export profile"
4. USB interface: "USB device"

You can also export it to BMW online too in the cloud...

Deleting contacts
Only contacts that are stored in the vehicle are
deleted. The contacts on the mobile phone cannot
be deleted.
1. "My contacts"
2. Highlight the contact.
3. "Options" Open.
4. "Delete contact"or "Delete all contacts".

You can wipe the car by going to connected drive, pressing options and then delete all private data.

Aren't all the contacts already on your phone (Which is how you got them on the car in the first place)? When you connect your car again afterwards they'll all just download again won't they?

Hi

By contacts I meant saved GPS destinations, rather than phone contacts.

Backup worked so thanks to all.
