Wireless CCTV systems

Can anyone recommend a decent wireless CCTV system.

Dont particularly want a wired system as i have a new build and dont want a lot of surface mounted cables after paying to have everything concealed during the build.

Any recommendations much appreciated.

Depends on budget and if you want to install.

The following are good in the order imo;

HTC quantum 70

Pyronix enforcer

Yale (for ease of self install)

If you speak to someone you may find the can do a wired system with very little showing and disruption depending on your situation.....though I think wireless are top notch now.

Ps thanks for the reply in your S8 thread. Enjoy the car when it arrives

I got a WiFi IP camera (external) that works ok for the money and saves to a NAS. Its power over ethernet so I only needed to run a network cable with power injected.

I think the netgear Arlo is supposed to be good - more of a plug and play system than mine!

I was put off wireless cctv system due to the poor quality images it produced. It isn't admissable in court. I wanted a wireless system for similar reasons. I bought my wired system from http://www.cctvfirst.co.uk/
Very helpful.

I though that as long as the camera was 4CIF then the no matter if wired or wireless, the resolution was sufficient.

I would personally have wired as main and wireless as back up areas.

Wireless can be jammed and located.

Another key bit when setting up cameras is location of security lighting.

A friend managed to mount his so that when his security lighting came on it created too much light for the camera to handle.

Don't you need wires anyway for the ethernet or power?

I had a similar concern about surface mount cables when I installed my system. 2 cameras ended up with no wires showing as they went straight through the wall to where the recorder was. Other cables follow behind drainpipes or along brick work creases so are hidden. To be fair, the wires you can see you aren't that obvious.

The only thing to watch for is some systems have short cables from the camera which you then connect to a longer cable that goes to the the recorder. The connections can be big and hard to hide.

One thing i would advise, put your hard drive recorder out of the main living room if at all possible. They are bloody noisy with the cooling fan they have inside them.
