Let me explain why. As our cars age, any dirt and residue in the fuel tank sits on the very bottom. When you introduce a cleaning agent, it disturb those residue and those particles get sucked up to your fuel pump, fuel filter, and even clog the injectors. Some injector cleaners and additives coat a film on your fuel system and plugs. Then out the exhaust, it will clog the cat converters.. The real key is using high grade fuel from Shell/BP/etc. I never had any issues with any of my cars w/o using injector cleaners or additives. Our cars are directly injected. This means the valves don't get any benefit from additives and cleaners. The only true way of cleaning is to do walnut blasting every 60-75k miles, send your injectors out for cleaning, and replace your fuel filter every 100k miles. Fun article I read a long time ago. To save you the reading, add-in injector cleaners don't work so don't waste your money. Have you ever used gasoline to clean anything? It's a powerful cleaner on its own, hell it would strip paint even. http://www.superstreetonline.com/how...stem-cleaners/
