Escort Cosworth for £60k

I know it's a legendary car, and an appreciating classic, but £60k! Really?

It must be the only one in the world in that condition and with only 5300 miles, surely? On that basis such a classic car in 'as new' condition is fairly priced at £60k I think.

I bet whoever buys it doesn't drive it though, I bet they stick it in a garage, show it to their friends, and then sell it in the future for even more. Which is a shame.

Money certainly has lost its value recently, as for fast/classic fords I simply do not get the appeal. (GT40 le mans cars accepted)

Have a wee look at the prices of RS500s. Or early RS1600/Twincams.

My RS is my only car that has appreciated continually, and always crosses over the price of my BMWs as they depreciate.

If you had classic BMWs they'd have done the same thing.

Classic BMWs ? .... name a few from the 60/70s.

Apart from one of the first M3 EVO, or batmobile, they don't interest me in the slightest.

Lovely looking car. If only I had won the lottery on Saturday. I would be buying a big garage and filling it with cars full of pedigree like this! Probably better return than having the money saved in the bank!

As a wise man said its only worth what someone will pay for it

Might be advertised at just shy of 60k but doesn't mean they'll get it.

Good thing about classic cars is the there's no capital gains tax to pay

The prices of some classic Minis are also rocketing high, especially for tiny mileage as new examples as there are so few available.

A cossie sold at 60k in auction not so long ago so not out of bounds

& they never get driven as that'll depreciate it so moves from garage to garage

Its arguable that a few more miles would depreciate that Cossie. It isn't on delivery miles, its on 5k so really would 7k, 8k even 10k harm its value much, I don't think so.

If it was a daily driver and ended up at 50 or 60k miles then that's a different matter.

Value seems reasonable to me, given the way RS500's have gone. A good Sapphire seems to be well north of £20k these days.

Part of the appeal of Fast Fords is that they mean something to so many people; while there may not be many who can afford them, there are a lot of fans out there. More niche stuff such as older BMW's doesn't necessarily have the same following.

Wonderful days of shiny dashboard and trim.

A bit steep though.
