New Mastergrade Motorsport E90 CSL trunk preview

Hey guys, I sent an e-mail to a company called Mastergrade Motorsports regarding future parts for the E90. I got a swift response with a few pictures.

"Hi, thank you for contacting MastergradeMotorsport. We are pleased to let you know we are almost done with the molding stage of our BMW E90 CSL style trunk lid."

Here are the pictures that were attached.

For those of you who don't know who Mastergrade is, they are one of 2-3 shops in the US who use a technique known as vacuum bagging. This process creates some of the lightest more durable parts. Their s2000, G35, and RX8 trunk weigh in at 8-9 lbs. I would suspect this one weighs about the same. I sent an e-mail regarding pricing and if its offered in fiberglass and Carbon, I'll post up their response.

Yes it is !

I got a response and pricing hasn't been released yet. They are also working on a hood and a few other E parts.

Heard nothing but horror stories about this company.

Somone in the industry told me the previous owner whose name is Boomer closed the business and is trying to start this business again!

They are supposedly a very small mom and pop style fiberglass shop.

Does not sound promising. Here is only one of the few stories about them:

Well, I contact the owner directly about these concerns. Boomer is the NEW owner of Mastergrade. The old owner, Perry, was the one who ran the company into the ground. When I questioned this he told me to read the old Mastergrade 350z Import Tuner issue where it states Perry is the owner.

http://www.importtuner.com/features/...ody/index.html

I began to ask what the issues with the s2000 community. Boomer stated that, the old owner outsourced many of the parts from Mexico to save a few bucks. He then would pass off hand laid carbon parts as vacuum bagged parts. Perry is no longer associated with Mastergrade and is infact working for a close competitor (go figure). I've done some research on My350z, G35driver, and S2ki and all the new Mastergrade parts have had nothing but great reviews. I'm going to give the name another chance before I believe the "word on the street" over real customer reviews.

I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that you either work for mastergrade or are one of their distributors.

Your post above is written very much the exact same way as the responses made on the s2000 forums by their distributor. Your user name also being carbon ltd which implies you are in the carbon fiber business does not help.

I dont really care but this whole thread is too shady for me already.
