Stolen and found!

My sister in law had her 63 plate 316i SE stolen yesterday, she was on a night out and her husband hadn't locked the front door after putting the bin out and some opportunistic sheath went in to the house and took the key to the car whilst he was sitting in the lounge.

They have a new born and the pram was in the boot, anyway social media was the hero, we shared it on FB and a friend of the family called to say she thought it was outside her house 5 minutes up the road, indeed it was, completely undamaged with everything still in it but sans key.

Police reckon they parked it up to see if it had a tracker and come back for it a couple of days later.

I think they got in it and realised it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding and ditched it

All's well that ends well!

Glad they got it back and no one was hurt in the taking etc

Little bastards should have been mis carried at birth

Did they leave the door ajar or were they just going round trying handles

Might only have been a 316 BUT. It's her 316 and not fr sine little vermin to mess with.

Scumbags, glad you found it so quick. This is why I now routinely lock the door, which is such a shame. It's standard practice for them to park them close by for a day or 2.

OP - make sure your sister in law has snap proof locks fitted to her house if she hasn't already, otherwise she might as well leave the door unlocked. I was burnt by this a few weeks back as you may have read.

It's all to do with man power.

Wouldn't be considered a good use of resources to have 2 officers watching a car for a couple of days in the grand scale of things.

Unfortunately.

On another point read in auto express average sentence for car theft is £175 fine with a 16% custody rate resulting in a 2.6months average sentence.

Not much of a deterrent for a £xx000 car really.

They would rather use their resources to man speed cameras

Fleece the honest

Most if not all the cameras in West Midlands are turned off now as not enough revenue.

It would have been easy to set a trap where my car was. One road in and one road out. They had driven it there from where it was stashed, probably picking up there shit head mates to take it to wherever it was heading, but I think the cops would have picked up the tab if the car got damaged as a result so they just recovered it.

I'd be suprised if they get any prints from the car, they didn't on mine.

Yep I think they're going to be much more security aware now, I'm surprised really as we were broken into and cleaned out only 12 months ago!

They prevent someone forcing a standard lock, the Lock has built in break section.

I agree that it's easier revenue to man speed cameras and this is pretty poor - they should be putting more resources into getting these scum.

HOWEVER - "Fleece the honest". Sorry, but if you are speeding, you are a breaking the law. You are a criminal. You are not "the honest".

We've all got speed limit buttons on our steering wheels. No need to speed.

Honest as in not cheating or robbing any one else.

Watch this video about making Bump keys...

You can jump bits of it, it just shows how easy locks are to get past.
