2004 bmw 320d non starter
I own a 2004 BMW 320d se estate. The battery recently died on it so I went to Europarts and bought a new one. Fitted and started just about (was it a new battery ?) Went shopping clocked up about 50 mile so it had a good run. Got home later and parked up. Had forgotten something as you do and went out again (30mins later) Car would not start? Not even a click, dash lights on, headlights on , no start. I took the battery back to Europarts and got a direct replacement. Anyway just fitted it, and same thing. Have tried rocking it in gear in case of starter motor but made no difference. Strange how it worked that one time, Puzzled !!! Is there any common problems on these models, I've only had it 6 months and this is the first time is packed up. HELP..

Perhaps try an e46 forum? I can report that my F30 starts every time.
But at a guess it sounds like you either have a charging problem, or a starter motor problem. |

Could be the starter isn't getting current.
I know its completely different but had this on my 205 GTI. Due to its age and being French the wiring can be a challenge Had very similar, turn key and nothing. Once I bypassed the original starting circuit (seems that it was bleeding off juice) and wired the starter to the battery directly with a relay (theres enough juice to trigger the relay but not to trigger the starter) its worked perfectly since |

This, if there isn't even a click when attempting a start the starter solenoid isn't even getting sufficient current. Therefore most likely a bad earth somewhere. Has the car ever been fitted with an aftermarket alarm? Could be a dodgy immobiliser perhaps? |
